When Katara laughs at something Suki has said, the sound of it warms Zuko down to his toes.
Her eyes find his across the courtyard, smiling.
Zuko thinks unbidden and all at once of what it might be like to kiss her, and then in very close succession about all of the new and so carefully built things between them that it would destroy if he tried.
He looks away.
And then, because he has never had enough self-preservation to know how to quit while he is ahead, Zuko looks back.
