“Mamahalin mo pa rin ba ako kahit maging bato ako?” he suddenly asked out of nowhere.
I burst out laughing at the absurdity of the question. “Bakit ka naman magiging bato, Haruto?” I countered instead of answering.
“Hypothetically, mahal,” he murmured, gently lacing his fingers through mine.
“Eh bakit bato? Bakit hindi lamok? Langaw? Kuto?” We both laughed harder, the options degenerating into ridiculousness.
“Ayoko maging lamok, langaw or kuto. First of all, kadiri. Second of all, namamatay sila at lumilipas,” he reasoned softly.
“And third?”
Haruto turned his head, looking at me with an intensity so pure it stole my breath away. “Hindi nawawala ang bato, kahit saan pwede mo dalhin. It will remain just like my love for you,” he uttered. The depth in his voice made my smile grow even wider.
God knows how incredibly happy he made me. I truly could not wait to walk down that aisle, straight toward where he would be waiting.
