His vision blurred, and something wet rolled down his cheeks. Surprised, he brought one of his hands to his face and could feel more of those drops coming out of his eyes.
"Wha–..what is this stuff?" his voice began to tremble. He rubbed his face with the back of his hand, but more drops kept falling, wetting his cheeks. 'Tears,' his brain informed him. 'He is crying.' "W-Why didn't it stop?" he managed to articulate; they needed to stop.
The new Superman can't cry; he can't cry.

Summary
Everyone remained silent for tense seconds; until, after steeling himself, Superboy took a firm step forward.
He could see quite clearly how Superman's face (a face that is home to smiles and promises of safety) was sealed in a mask of suspicion and distrust with each step he took in his direction. Superboy stops a few feet away and, after releasing a slight sigh, lifts the top of his torn suit to reveal the symbol that unites them both. The mask of suspicion gave way to one of shock, and Superboy allowed his face to relax into the beginning of a smile. It was finally happening. The reason why he was created took on a new meaning. Maybe he should no longer destroy or replace Superman; he could accompany him. Superman could teach Superboy what it really meant to be a Super...
But all hope died when seriousness and rejection flooded Superman's light blue eyes.
