Summary
Merlin's expectation in life was to be invisible and protect Arthur (and one day become the greatest warlock in the world and help bring about a magical era of peace, but that was irrelevant)
But all of that changed when the Queen of the prophesized Albion comes to Camelot and reveals that Merlin is the prince of their small but magically adept country. He is pulled into court politics, etiquette lessons, and a long series of revelations about how much control he truly holds over his own future.
Now, Merlin must find the balance between his duty, his destiny, and his heart.

Summary
“Why have only the knights been enchanted? Why not us as well?” She asked Merlin
“You're a woman,” Merlin stated matter-of-factly.
“So?” She replied
Merlin shifted his gaze to the spot where he had last seen Gwaine before he had left them. “All the victims have been men.”
“So why haven't you fallen under her spell?” Gwen asked, and Merlin’s breath caught in his throat. In reality, he knew there were only two reasons he had been so lucky; both were enough to land him on the pyre. Although, for one, he knew Arthur would never allow it. The other, he was not so sure.
I saw a memey tik tok about why the Lamia didn't affect Merlin like the knights. Instead of it being due to sorcery, I wrote it as *homosexuality*. So this is about Merlin coming out to Gwen, and an unconscious Elyan.

Summary
Merlin would never hesitate to choose - he'd always pick his friends and family first. Before everything, even himself.
He's at peace with his decision, his sacrifice; Albion is here and his duty is fulfilled. He can finally rest and reunite with those he lost along the way. Arthur will be fine without him, he has his knights and Queen for support and if a certain Warlock is missing, Merlin's sure others will be there to fill in the gap.
Truly, the end of his life but only the beginning of a golden age.

Summary
Geraint is an old man - older than the town he lives in and even older than that, and despite his age, remembers every day as if it were yesterday.
He spends his days retelling stories of the town, from before the Fall of Camelot, to snippets of life during the town's hayday.
One night, a stranger who appears to be more than who he says he is, asks for a tale - all of them.

Summary
The first thing Merlin ever saw upon entering Camelot was the beheading of a man in the town square, by order of the king.
The second thing he saw was a blond haired man being dragged off in a fury by the guards, dressed in red finery and trying to sink his teeth into an ungloved guards hand.
The third thing Merlin saw in Camelot, was an old and heartbroken woman swearing vengeance for her son, who escaped in a blast of wind.
As it turned out, each of those three things were equally important indicators of the life he was about to lead.
~~
I decided to give Merlin a break from his unrelenting stress and worry and give him an Arthur who has a few secrets of his own - not least that this is his second life, and not his first time being called King.No merthur - I couldn't do that to our og idiots.

Summary
It seems that in every battle, Merlin resorts to dropping tree branches on the heads of his and Arthur's enemies. But surely there are several problems with this as a battle tactic...?
In which tree-branch-dropping goes very wrong, and Merlin learns to branch out.
(Also fair warning this contains a plethora of truly awful puns so continue at your own risk.)

Summary
“So,” says Merlin, picking up a grape and putting it in his mouth, “do we know who Lot’s representative is yet?”
Arthur rolls his eyes at his newly-promoted court sorcerer. “Get your feet off the desk, Merlin.” His friend scowls but does so. “And actually, we do. His reply arrived this morning. He’s sending Lord Meleagant, the Duke of Cameliard.”
Merlin pauses, another grape halfway to his mouth. “Lord Meleagant?”
“Yes, him and his son. I don’t know anything else, Lot was rather light on the details, but... Merlin, are you alright?” Merlin’s face has abruptly drained of colour and his hands are trembling slightly. Some old acquaintances of Merlin’s visit Camelot and his traumatic past comes to light.

Summary
Longstead at the foot of the Feorre Mountains.
Mysterious sickness affecting only young men.
Merlin is sent to treat the illness and report his findings.
Before the trip is over, every past alliance will be challenged and Merlin may just have to solve this problem on his own.
Well, nothing new there. This fic was inspired by a conversation between friendlyneighborhoodwriter and Glon_Morski on Land of Myth Discord server regarding Arthur’s comment to Merlin about not being able to find his own backside in the Lamia episode (s.4, ep.8). So, it does have spoilers and may not make sense if you haven’t watched that episode. Or, maybe not. Happy reading!
I do not own Merlin.

Summary
No man, no matter how noble or common can know his destiny, but the people who walk with him along the journey are there for a purpose. They are there to guide, protect and love. No man stands alone in the quest for what is good and right.
Losing Arthur leaves Merlin caught up in an endless cycle of guilt, grief, and sadness. When it becomes more than he can bear, he decides the time has come for him to leave the kingdom he has fought so hard for. No longer Arthur’s protector, he is adrift with no sense of purpose. Is he just the magic born to serve his king? Is he a servant? Is he Emrys, the greatest sorcerer to ever walk the earth? Is he the savior of the Druids? Is he truly the Last of the Dragonlords?
It is that question that sends him on a journey to discover just who Balinor was and just what it means to be a Dragonlord. Are there others? Are there more dragons out there? He leaves behind everyone and everything he has ever loved and sets out to find answers. The journey leads him to surprising discoveries that bring him ever closer to the destiny he’d thought was lost forever.

Summary
Merlin watches Arthur leave. He has to forcibly remind himself about what he can and cannot have; who and what he is. Thrice damned. Blessed to be alive, in Camelot, and at Arthur’s side. He needs nothing more.
For now, Merlin has paperwork to do and more magical artefacts to buy back from the citizens of Camelot. He takes a couple of moments to reconstruct himself, reaching for some ambient magic and using it to stabilise his tired body and revitalise his mind.
He can’t fall over when there is more work to do. When he opens his eyes, Merlin straightens his itchy court outfit and sets off to be the best Court Sorcerer he can be.
The sequel to Soldier, Peasant, King where Merlin, now serving as Camelot’s Court Sorcerer, must weigh his personal wish to accept the king’s mutually-desired advances to court him against his professional duty: to help bring about and sustain Camelot’s Golden Age as prophesied and witnessed in the Crystal of Neahtid. Of course, the very same Crystal paints a future for him and Arthur as a harbinger of heartache.

Summary
Because if there are places where magic survives in the 21st century, one of those places is surely Oxford. Because the fellowship of Camelot deserved happier fates than the show gave them. Because it's hard for a king to save the world, and harder for a prophecy to be broken. And because, though there are many imaginings of what happened to Merlin, surviving into a new world, I wanted to write this one.
This work is tagged for Arthurian mythology (and related fandoms) because, as some readers may notice, I've borrowed ideas from medieval literature and modern retellings, which will be acknowledged in the respective chapters.
Weekly updates planned for Wednesdays; begun 10 June 2020. Note as of 20 August: this fic was planned to be finished by the end of the summer; it will not be. It has grown in the telling, and while it is plotted and sketched out to its end, the regularity of updates is very likely to suffer as the academic year begins. Subscriptions recommended to interested parties.

Summary
Merlin chose to save Mordred against the dragon's advice. He should have made the same choice for Morgana. In which Merlin is more than a little fed up of old men and old dragons telling him what to do, and gives Morgana some hope. Maybe it won't change the dark path she's destined to walk down... Or perhaps in doing so, Merlin saves all of Albion from her wrath. Featuring the emotional catharsis and continuity we were denied in canon and a systematic re-writing of what could have been
