Summary
Six o’clock sharp on a Friday bristling night, and Billy Hargrove is already freezing his ass off in the middle of Hawkins woods, more pissed than he usually is —which is saying something.
Generally, this kind of mood belongs to home, after a fight with his father because he came back too late again; or to basketball practice, where his teammates can barely manage to pass him the ball without screwing it up somehow.
Friday evening is an exception to this routine.
Because at six o’clock sharp, Billy is neither at home nor on the court. Instead, he’s sitting stiff at a damp picnic table buried in the forest, waiting —impatiently, bitterly, and still pissed off beyond reason— for no other than the infamous Eddie “the Freak” Munson.
Lucky him.

Summary
Billy does this shit to himself, again and again. Gets his heart broken. Tricks himself into thinking everything’s getting better. That he has people in his life who care about him. But nobody does, because he always pushes them away, in the end. The last thing he ever did with Steve was fight, and Max is looking at him again how she used to, in the months between the incident in April and the incident in November, like he’s a monster. Because that’s what he is. A monster.

Summary
His bursting anger took her off guard tonight. The way he gripped her wrist so hard it hurt. Left her skin marked pink. How he spat paranoia in her face and antagonized her with barely suppressed rage. She knows it’s a red flag. Knows that what he’s doing is dead wrong. That him getting so sullen and resentful every time she comes within an inch of another guy can’t be healthy. Can’t be normal.
She seriously needs to think this through.
