Miraculous Ladybug: Paranormal Nightmare

Chapter 1: Nail in the Coffin

Chapter Text

Monday, December 5th

This afternoon, Rose found herself in the car an hour after school. She was being driven home by her mother. The blonde sat there with an irritated pout on her face, having to listen to her mother angrily complain about how she got detention again. "What do you expect me to do?! Chloé and Lila keep bullying me, so I stood up for myself, or is that not what you want?" Rose shot back, hitting the backseat with her left fist. That only caused more trouble for the poor girl. Instead of understanding the actual situation, her mother started saying how that’s “no excuse” to beat up other girls. Fed up with this nonsense, Rose sat there with her arms crossed, angrily grumbling to herself. Snow fell from the sky, but she didn’t give a shit, too mad to care about making snow angels or anything like that at the moment. The rest of the car ride home became a bittersweet experience due to the tense argument.

Ten minutes later, her mother parked near the apartment building where they resided, pulling Rose by the ear in order to get her out of the car. "STOP, THAT HURTS!" Rose exclaimed, gritting her teeth as she hissed in pain. Her mother immediately slapped her across the face, demanding that she shut her mouth if she didn’t want to be grounded for an entire month with no electronics. Reluctantly, Rose obliged, even though her mood swings were running rampant. She hated every second of this, wishing for the living nightmare to end, but that wasn’t going to happen right away. Of course not. She just wanted to be with Juleka again, be in her arms again, but she had to endure this living nightmare first before anything else.

Back inside of the apartment room, Rose ran to her bedroom right after being released from that painful grip. The blonde slammed her door shut, walked over to her bed, and then she lied down on the mattress. In the privacy of her room, she started crying, which was understandable given the circumstances. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand, unplugging it from the charger so she could call a special someone. Maybe she would vent about today, anyway. Wasting no time, she called her girlfriend, who picked up after a few seconds. Then, they just started talking and talking for a while, resulting in them having a rather decent time together.

Nighttime arrived sooner or later. Rose hung up after letting her girlfriend know just how much she loved her, putting her phone back on the nightstand. Step after step, she exited her bedroom to go to the kitchen, her stomach growling rather noisily. Rolling her eyes, Rose approached the refrigerator. When she swung open the door, she looked inside, only to grow disappointed. Her favorites weren’t in there. "Ugh. I’ll just take this," she muttered, her hands reaching for the grapefruit juice. Then, she made her way over to the living room table, sitting down rather hastily. Picking up the remote, she decided to watch television, which would calm her down more. Since her parents were asleep, Rose figured that she could probably do what she actually wanted to do right now. Well, if it meant that she wouldn’t get grounded.

On the television screen, there was an erotic movie playing. There weren’t too many inappropriate scenes since this aired version had been edited, anyways. In the meantime, Rose drank her grapefruit juice, moaning in delight at the taste. Such a bright and refreshing flavor made her day better. For the time being, she just enjoyed the moment, briefly wishing she was with Juleka instead. Their healthy relationship’s been the best thing that ever happened. A bundle of memories, both good and bad, came flooding back to her. Rose loved everything positive about Juleka; her eyes, her smile, her warmth, her hair, and her affection. Anytime she daydreamed about her, whether or not her hormones were involved, her heart would skip a beat. There’s just something so special about that goth girl.

Late at night, Rose finished using the bathroom, currently washing her hands in the sink. For whatever reason, she felt a little bit moody. The warm water felt so nice on her skin, gushing out of the faucet as if it were a waterfall. Soon enough, her hands reached for the handle, turning off the water. Shutting the door behind her as she released an adorable yawn, she went back to her room, only to notice an Ouija Board on the bed. "The hell is that? I don’t remember this being in my room." Rose muttered, brushing a few blond locks away from her face. Its appearance made her curious as to what it might do, though, which led to her approaching the board. After staring at it for a minute or two, she finally decided to use it, unable to help herself. It’s not like she had anything else to do, so maybe she could busy herself.

After setting everything up, she sat down and placed her fingers on the planchette. Then Rose asked if anyone was there, and the planchette started to move, spelling out the name Emily. Moments later, Rose asked a series of questions, but the planchette rarely ever moved. Assuming that this was just a joke, she decided to take her frustration out on the spirit, not caring about any serious consequences due to her immaturity. "If you can hear me, you’re a coward." Rose snarled, throwing the board back under her bed without saying goodbye. Letting out an exasperated sigh, she decided that she would go to sleep. After all, she did have to go back to school. Little did she know, her careless actions would not be taken lightly by the evil spirit.

A few heavy breaths escaped her lungs before she calmed down enough to think straight. On a whim, Rose gave up temporarily since she was in a terrible mood, getting under the covers so that she would be more comfortable. Lying down on the mattress, she thought back to what her girlfriend told her on the phone. Something about spending the night with her this weekend to cheer her up; Rose really wanted that to happen, feeling incredibly excited. "I can’t wait to see you again, Jules," she said, smiling brightly. In mere minutes, she finally drifted off into a deep sleep, her blue eyes shutting gradually. Her bed literally felt so soft that she could imagine herself lying down on a cloud. Unbeknownst to her, she would be going through much more than just another bad day. No, there would be much more to come.
