Chapter Text

“Good grief… my head hurts…” Schroeder rubbed his head.

“Schroeder..?” He heard a soft, familiar voice call out to him.

Right. Lucy had come to visit him while he was practicing his piano in preparation for the performance the choir was planning to do later in the day, and in the panic of the evacuations he had dragged her along onto the plane.

…Now he wishes he really hadn’t done that.

“That you, Lucy..?” He sat up. His friend (who he totally didn’t have a crush on, no sir not at all), sat next to him.

“Who else would it be?” She scoffed,  “I wonder where we are..”

“Probably in the middle of nowhere.” Schroeder murmured.

“Oh, don’t be scared. You have me to protect you!”

Schroeder looked at her, unamused.

“Whatever you say..” He sighed.

“Hey! I’ll have you know that I’m way stronger than you think!” She exclaimed, “Plus, you don’t have any right to talk. I don’t think pianists are known for their strength.”

“...Well I’m not sure psychiatrists are either-”

“Oh, shut it, you!” Lucy huffed, thoroughly annoyed. Schroeder held back a chuckle, though he couldn’t help the slight smile that creeped up on his face.

“Do you think any of the other kids survived the crash?” Schroeder asked.

“We won’t know until we find out,” Lucy stood up, pulling on his arms and dragging him up as well, “C’mon! I wanna see what this place is like! Ooh! What if there are pretty flowers… and lots of tasty fruits… and maybe even-“

“Man-eating lions, man-eating cobras, man-eating-“

“Lalala I can’t hear you!” Lucy sang loudly as she tugged Schroeder towards a random direction she had chosen to walk in.

They had been walking for a long while.

…Or at least that’s what it felt like.

Schroeder and Lucy trudged forward, not meeting a single person on the way, and were just beginning to accept that they had been the only survivors of the crash when all of a sudden-

A loud noise rang out. One that sounded similar to a trumpet.

“What in the world was that?” Lucy was visibly frazzled by the sound.

“I could ask you the same question,” He muttered, “Do you think we should try and find out what it was, or..?”

“No! What if it’s something dangerous? Like… a real big elephant, or-or-“

“…Or it could be someone who’s come to take us back home, trying to round all of us up. You think of that yet?”

“…Touché.” Lucy admitted.

With that, the two began to walk towards the source of the odd sound they had just heard.

Distantly, Schroeder remembered the fact that he had hurriedly stashed his piano inside of his luggage before boarding the plane. Assuming that his luggage had landed on the island, then maybe his piano could also be safely intact..?

But that wasn’t his main priority right now. Not yet, anyway.
