Chapter Text
Roughly a month after their shaky bargain, the only progress between Duckweed and his new 'friend' Pebble is the scavenger's fluency in Dragon language. Despite his best efforts, he can't get the smaller creature to open up at all. Pebble seems to have made it his life mission to be as troublesome for the Mudwing as he can be. Neither is happy with the current set up.
But an innocent moment of kindness ends up dragging them both into a load of trouble. With not many options, the only thing they can really do is rely on each other to get out of this mess.
Finally! I can get this show on the road! The first real step in Duckwing and Pebbles' adventurers in this series! This story went through so many revisions, but I can finally upload the first chapter!
Yes. You read that right. This entire fic is going to be a multi-chapter comic, and this chapter alone is already about as big as 'Desperate Escape'. Yeah, this is gonna be a long haul, but, as I mentioned on my Tumblr, the real battle was writing the script for this monster. I actually scrapped my initial ideas and re-wrote everything from scratch. That alone took half the year. Ugh. But it is written, so more chapters should come after the holidays. Thank you for your patience!
Some quick notes:
- This story takes place a few weeks after the events of the last two fics and a about three months after the SandWing Succession War ended.
- Pebble knows more words and phrases than before but he is far from fluent. He can lose track of a conversation if the speaker talks to fast, and he will say 'What' when anything he doesn't know. If neither Duckweed not Pebble can verbally explain, they will resort to charades and drawings.
- Normal text means the characters are speaking 'Dragon'. Text in <> means they are speaking 'Human'.

This fic is also posted on my tumblr, Saroko-still-draws, along with character profiles, updates, silly comics, and artwork.
Stay safe during the holidays everyone! See you next year!
