Chapter Text
George wouldn’t necessarily say that he hated being an omega. What he would say he hated was that he didn’t have control over his body once every three months.
He had first presented as an omega when he was fourteen, slick staining his briefs as he nervously padded his way to his parents room asking his mum for a pad, awkwardly asking her to take him to buy the male version which wouldn’t squish his…areas.
Even though he had presented with his scent glands, he was a late bloomer and his heat didn’t come until he was sixteen, and it was torture. His mum had sat him down to have the talk after it was over , and explained it was a lot easier if there was an alpha to help, that it was normal now in society to have heat partners and maybe he should try to ask an alpha for the next one.
He didn’t take her advice until they moved to Florida the next year for his dad's job, and he had asked a cute alpha in his class if he wanted to help with his next one. The alpha nervously laughed and explained to him that he wasn’t interested in the same sex, and the rest of the class passed by in an awkward silence between the two for the rest of the semester.
After the embarrassment from the rejection, he held off on asking for a while. He had plenty of offers from alphas, but he didn’t know if they asked for him, or if it was just because they wanted to brag about helping an omega in heat, so he always said no.
It wasn’t until halfway into his junior year, and a rather miserable heat, that he decided to try again. He asked a kind alpha on the football team, Foolish. The teen had wrinkled his nose and let him down gently that he was pretty, but he just wasn’t attracted to his scent, and that George shouldn’t just ask any alpha, that he should ask the one that smelled good to him since they’d be more compatible and there’d be a higher chance of mating after his heat.
The problem with that is that the only alpha that had ever smelled good to him, was Dream.
Dream was the stereotypical American high school quarterback that screamed alpha all over, in his height, his attitude, and his smell. Dream smelled like hazelnuts and pine trees, and he had a strong jaw, wide shoulders, and curly dirty blonde hair. George had a crush on him since day one of school in Florida, wanting nothing more to climb him like a tree. But the thing was, Dream didn’t seem to know he even existed. The alpha never looked at him in their shared classes or in the hallway when they passed each other.
Now in his senior year, he decided he had nothing to lose at this point and he was going to ask the alpha to be his heat partner, already mentally prepared for the alpha to say no.
Quackity sighs, “I mean I can see the appeal, he smells okay even though I’m a beta and can’t really tell. I’ve had a few projects to do with him and he’s a gentle giant, but I’m sure he’s a freak in bed.” George chokes, face flushing at the image as he grabs his binder from his locker. “Plus, we know that you’ve had a crush on him since you’ve moved here. What if he says yes?” He asks with a grin.
“He’s going to say no.” George rolls his eyes, shoving the binder into his backpack before zipping it closed. He's not going to let his friend get his hopes up. “I’ve overheard him tell practically every omega at this school that he’s not interested.”
“Not every omega, there's still you and Karl.” Quackity points out before looking pensive, “Maybe he’s waiting for you to ask him to finally say yes.”
Luckily before he could think of a response, the bell rings. Closing his locker and throwing his backpack over his shoulder, he bids the beta goodbye and makes his way over to his first period class, anxiety settling in that it’s just going to get closer and closer to the time he’s going to approach Dream.

When lunch time hits, George doesn’t even feel like eating. His appetite is lost due to nerves, but he knows he needs to eat something to prepare his body for his upcoming heat.
He spots Karl waving him over to the line so he can cut in front of him. Making his way over to him, he passes by Dream, who is already sitting down eating at his table in his letterman. George knows that Dream has football for his fifth period, the alpha always getting released early from fourth period to make sure he gets lunch before the crowd comes in so he eats before practice. George cringes at himself, realizing just how much of the alpha’s schedule he knows without even having talked to him properly. The last time he talked to him was when school first started a month ago and it was just a quick “sorry” after bumping into him as he was walking into, and Dream out, of Mr. William’s AP English class. The alpha had just blinked in response before brushing past him quickly to his next class. Which he knew was astronomy. Fuck, he was creepy.
Grabbing the lunch tray Karl offers him with a smile, he takes the place in line in front of him. They don’t have a class together this semester, but thankfully they have the same lunch everyday, along with Quackity and Tina. It’s nice having another omega as a friend, and Karl understands how George feels since he’s a male one too.
“Ummm don’t act like you’re not hiding something from me,” Karl scoffs, making George’s eyebrows furrow. “Why didn’t you tell me about,” He glances around to make sure no one is eavesdropping. “You asking Dream to help you during your heat?!” He finishes in a whisper.
George shushes him, looking back to see Dream’s best friend Sapnap a few students back in line laughing at something on his phone. “Quackity told you!?” George moves following the line and puts the plate of baked potato on his tray.
“Yep,” Karl answers, copying George’s moves as they go down the food aisle. “And I’m upset I wasn’t made aware of this earlier.” George doesn’t even look at what he grabs from the fruit bowl, making it to the end of the aisle scanning his student ID and waiting for Karl to scan his before they walk together to their table. “When are you going to ask him?”
George ignores his question glancing at the clock on the wall, slamming his tray on the table then taking a seat next to Quackity. He puts his head in his hands with a groan. It’s already going to be one o’clock, he only has a couple of hours left before he’s going to ask Dream.
“Woah there, you okay?” Tina asks, glancing at Karl as he takes a seat across the table.
“He’s mad at Quackity,” Karl says just as he sits down next to the female beta. “For telling me about his plan.”
“Ohh, the asking Dream plan.” Tina snorts. “He already told me too, sorry George.”
George lifts his head glaring between Quackity and Karl. “I wasn’t going to tell anyone my plan! Quackity overhead my private,” he emphasizes with a glare to said teen, “Conversation with my mum.” He sighs, before peeling the banana he apparently grabbed as his fruit.
“Well I’m glad we know,” Quackity says through a mouth full of food. “That way we can scold you if you chicken out.”
“Look, I’m going to do it,” he takes a bite from the banana. “I’m just nervous, cause I know he’s going to say no like everyone else I’ve asked. I just…” He sighs. “I just need to hear him say it so I can move on.” He mumbles while chewing, eyes downcast and scent emitting sadness.
Suddenly serious, they all glance at each other for what seems like forever before Karl speaks up. “George, if he doesn’t say yes then it’s his loss.” Tina nods in agreement. “He’ll never get from someone else what you’d give to him.”
Hoping he can read his mind, George meets his eyes with his own pleading ones trying to say please, just drop it . Fortunately, Karl acknowledges his look with a nod and he changes the subject making George sigh in relief. He starts bringing up which different colleges he plans to apply to, making Tina and Quackity jump in the conversation with their college picks. George is silent, slowly nibbling the banana just listening to their conversation. He brings his gaze over to Dream’s table to see the alpha quickly look down at his food with a pink hue to his cheeks.
When the bell rings, George mouths a quick thank you to Karl before throwing away his tray and walking the opposite direction from the other three to his classroom.

George holds his breath as the end of day announcements start over the intercom, signaling it’s time for him to have to find Dream. He knows where his locker is so his plan is to wait to the side until he shows up and just get it over with.
The final bell rings and everyone jumps up crowding the door to leave the class. Normally George would be like that too, but for now he takes his time waiting until the crowd is gone before finally standing up and making his way out.
The senior lockers are closest to the front of the school’s entrance so he makes his way over to them standing over to the side by the restrooms so that he’s not in the way of people leaving. He takes out his phone to send a message to his friends’ group chat that he’s waiting for Dream to show up, and not to leave without him. Immediately his phone starts pinging with ‘good luck’ and heart emojis, but he doesn’t respond, not wanting any distractions when he goes up to him.
He’s been waiting almost five minutes when Dream finally shows up to his locker with Sapnap, both in their football attire and skin shiny with sweat which just enhances Dream’s scent even more. Christ. He's glad they can’t see him watching them, no doubt seeming like a stalker as he watches Dream start to put his books from his locker to his backpack, talking to his friend while doing so. Sapnap just shrugs in response to what Dream says, and claps him on the shoulder before heading towards the exit.
George waits for Sapnap’s footsteps to quiet down before deciding to make his move. He slowly makes his way up behind the alpha, clenching his shaking hands. His friends are idiots if they think George would actually end up getting anything but a no from this. He’d seen Dream reject an omega just a few days ago, the girl crying running away as the alpha just casually continued to put his stuff up in his locker. It’d be the same thing this time, then he could go back to worrying about his rank and decide which college to go to.
Dream startles when he turns around after closing his locker to see him standing right there, his eyes wide and mouth parted. George realizes he’s only just a few inches away from him so he quickly steps back a little. “Hello.” George says with a hesitant smile.
“Hi,” Dream breathes. George can see the alpha’s gaze run over his face, making him flush in self consciousness. “G-George, right?” He stutters, nostrils flaring, and George is shocked that the alpha knows his name.
He’s never been this close to the alpha before, and his scent is a thousand times stronger when he's standing in front of the alpha. He feels his palms get sweaty as he nervously holds his own hands. “I was just wondering if you had any plans in two weeks,” George rushes out, feeling the heat rise in his cheeks even more when he realizes how desperate he probably looks to the alpha. “If not I was wondering maybe you cou-“
“No,” Dream interrupts him quickly and George flinches. Shit. He knew this would happen but it hurts actually facing it. George nods, accepting the rejection, turning to walk away so the alpha won’t see his eyes get wet, when suddenly a warm hand firmly envelops his wrist just missing his scent gland making him meet the alpha’s wide eyes.
“I-I meant, no I don’t have any plans.” George watches him swallow thickly. “Is this about your heat?” Dream licks his lips.
George nods hesitantly, shivering when Dream brings his thumb over to rub over his scent gland on his wrist. The alpha positively beams at him, his scent spiking in excitement making George’s knees weak. “I’ll be there.”
After giving the alpha his number, George runs over quickly to Karl’s parked car feeling his heart practically beating out of his chest before opening the back left door and getting in. They all look at him pointedly, obviously dying to hear what he has to say. “Oh. He said yes,” he says nonchalantly, making his friends all squeal and he can’t help the huge smile that takes over his face. George feels as the car starts to move and he can’t help but glance out and his breath hitches when he sees Dream on the football field watching the car pull away with dark eyes.
