Chapter Text
Wei Ying giggled, making his way through the makeshift dance floor with Huaisang. The Wen’s living room was so packed with people that they couldn’t help but touch sweaty body after sweaty body on their way to the kitchen. Wei Ying hadn’t expected the party to be so big. He had mistakenly assumed it would be more lowkey and chill, with only their closest friends being invited to drink and play board games or watch movies. If he had known it was going to be like this, he probably wouldn’t have worked so hard to convince Lan Zhan to come. Speaking of Lan Zhan..
Wei Ying glanced around the living room as he moved towards the kitchen, looking for his best friend. Originally he had invited Lan Zhan to come out and let loose a little. Wei Ying thought Lan Zhan needed to meet more people particularly of the… lgbt variety. Now don’t get Wei Ying wrong, he is very much an ally, but there was only so much he could do for Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan needed to meet other people, maybe even… date other people. In fact, Wei Ying was such a supportive best friend, he had suggested to be Lan Zhan’s wingman for the night. Even if all Lan Zhan wanted was a hookup, Wei Ying was totally for it.
Sure, the thought of Lan Zhan hooking up with someone made him feel funny. But Wei Ying was sure most people would feel the same when it comes to Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan just did not seem like the type of guy who would do a casual hookup. And as for how Wei Ying felt when he thought of Lan Zhan dating? Well obviously as Lan Zhan’s best friend, he would feel a bit miserable. The day Lan Zhan starts dating people is the day Wei Ying will have to start sharing his Lan Zhan. It doesn’t help that in Wei Ying’s eyes no man can be good enough for Lan Zhan. Regardless of his very personal feelings on the matter though, Wei Ying was definitely a supportive friend and thought Lan Zhan was the type of person who deserved a good lay.
Unfortunately, Lan Zhan had glared at the idea of getting himself laid via the help of his self appointed wingman-extraordinaire, before ditching Wei Ying in the hallway entrance of the house party. It was definitely Wei Ying’s fault for springing the idea on him as they were entering the party instead of talking about it beforehand, and it definitely didn’t help that Wei Ying didn’t know the party was going to be as big as it was, leaving both him and Lan Zhan unprepared to deal with all these people.
Abandoned in the hallway of the house party, Wei Ying decided it would be best to wait for his best friend to cool down his anger towards Wei Ying a bit, but then Huaisang found him and effectively distracted him from his original goal. Now with at least 5 different drinks- a rough estimate really, as Wei Ying stopped counting after drink number 2- in his system, he suddenly remembered his best friend. Even tipsy, Wei Ying could locate Lan Zhan like a moth attracted to a bright light, and his Lan-Zhan-radar was currently telling him that the man he was looking for was in the kitchen, so to the kitchen he went while holding hands with a drunk Huaisang. He really needed to get Huaisang some water…
“Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying grinned as he spotted his best friend exactly where he had expected him, brooding in the corner of the kitchen. Wei Ying approached with a wasted Huaisang in tow; his smile broadened as Lan Zhan silently handed him two water bottles.
“Always prepared! Thanks! You're the best.”
Wei Ying forced Huaisang to drink the water bottle, while making small talk with Lan Zhan. Well really, Wei Ying was doing all the talking, Lan Zhan mainly listened, commenting ‘mm’ every once in a while to reassure Wei Ying that he was still a participant in the conversation. Wei Ying talked about the friends he greeted, and the pretty girls he danced with. He talked about some of the drinks he had, rating each drink by how good they made him feel. Eventually, Huaisang was finished with his water and fussing about, trying to get away from Wei Ying.
“I wanna go party Wei Ying! Stop babying me already!”
Huaisang finally managed to push Wei Ying’s hands away, and Wei Ying scoffed, watching him stumble away. He turned to Lan Zhan, wide-eyed in disbelief as he yelled out, “You see that Lan Zhan!? The way he treats me after I’ve helped him?! I'm not appreciated.”
“Mm. Wei Ying is a good friend.”
“Lan Zhan!”
Lan Zhan could tell that Wei Ying was tipsy, maybe a little more than tipsy, but not enough to be wasted quite yet. He took the initiative to open Wei Ying’s water bottle and begin force feeding Wei Ying as the man grumbled about, trying to slap Lan Zhan’s hands away. Lan Zhan resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Wei Ying was good at taking care of others, but he was horrible at letting others take care of him.
Wei Ying tried speaking around the water bottle, and Lan Zhan watched as the droplets of water dribbled past Wei Ying’s jaw, down the expanse of his throat, and into his low cut shirt. Lan Zhan gulped and looked away, wanting to keep his sanity; Wei Ying looked good today. He was dressed the way he usually dressed when trying to find someone to hook up with. Too bad Wei Ying's preferred gender for hookups was women. But then again, even if Wei Ying had been interested in men, there was no way he would have been interested in Lan Zhan, and if Lan Zhan really thought about it, this thought hurt more than the previous. He would rather Wei Ying be straight and incapable of loving him, than gay and unwilling to love him.
Wei Ying finally finished the water bottle and slapped the bottle away from him in retaliation, fully pulling Lan Zhan out of his thoughts; the bottle, which Lan Zhan's grip had lessened on, flew, hitting one of the kitchen cabinets. Lan Zhan actually did roll his eyes this time, before turning to pick up the, now empty, plastic bottle and throwing it away in the recycling bin.
“Wei Ying” he admonished, but all Wei Ying did was grin a bit dopily, still looking slightly out of it.
“Lan Zhan! We’re at a party! We should be drinking fun, tasty drinks! Not boring, old water!”
“Water can be a palette cleanse.”
Wei Ying giggled, thinking Lan Zhan to be the funniest person he's ever known. Too bad the man has never had the joy of tasting some good alcohol. Wei Ying was sure Lan Zhan would truly enjoy it if he could, after all, his best friend was kind of a taste snob, always drinking only the best teas, and always eating the best soups. In fact, if Lan Zhan could consume alcohol, Wei Ying was sure he would have improved Wei Ying’s alcohol palette to a more refined level. Wei Ying wondered what type of alcohol Lan Zhan would drink. No doubt, Lan Zhan would be a fan of wine, but would he dabble with other kinds? Would Lan Zhan be the type to try out whiskey or straight tequila? Would Lan Zhan be the type to get those fruity drinks that barely taste like alcohol, making one think it's okay to drink a couple only to end up completely wasted on a strawberry tasting so-called “girly” drink? (Yeah, Wei Ying learned the hard way to view those types of drinks with caution.)
“Lan Zhan! You should taste this drink I tried earlier. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was purple!”
“Wei Ying knows I cannot drink alcohol.” Lan Zhan replied patiently, as if dealing with a child who had been given the same information multiple times already.
Wei Ying pouted, knowing deep within himself, that Lan Zhan was right, but right now, all Wei Ying wanted was to share this type of experience with his bestest friend. He wanted Lan Zhan to know what alcohol tasted like. Wei Ying felt it was only right for the most important person in his life to get to experience something Wei Ying indulges in frequently. He wanted Lan Zhan to be able to taste the actual alcoholic drinks instead of their less-superior (in Wei Ying’s opinion) virgin version.
Lan Zhan’s eyebrows furrowed, and Wei Ying realized he had said the last part of his thoughts out loud. “Wei Ying…”
“I’m sorry Lan Zhan, I'm just being ridiculous. I wish there was a way for you to be able to taste the alcohol without getting affected.”
According to Lan Zhan, even the smallest sip of alcohol was enough to turn the Lan’s into drunk maniacs. He still didn’t like to talk about what happened to Lan Huan 3 summers ago when he decided he wanted to improve his alcohol intake. All Wei Ying knows is that it didn’t end well, with Lan Zhan’s brother spending a night in jail.
Wei Ying sighed, looking out at the rest of the party over the countertop in the kitchen, while thinking of ways to get around the Lans alcohol tolerance. Maybe a dropper? Where they could measure the exact drops Lan Zhan could handle. Maybe a cloth soaked in alcohol than Lan Zhan could suck on softly? Maybe an ice cube dipped in-
Wei Ying noticed Mianmian and Wen Qing making out in the corner of the living room across from him, he watched as Mianmian pulled away and took a swig of her red party cup, before leaning in and reattaching her lips to Wen Qing’s. Wei Ying, grimaced, looking away. It felt wrong watching one of your sisters basically get it on with one of your close friends whom you used to flirt extensively with only months ago.
He decided Lan Zhan was better to look at, and turned his attention back to the man, before coming to an amazing realization! Wen Qing and Mianmian gave him such a great idea! He grinned, looking Lan Zhan in the eyes. “Lan Zhan! We should kiss!”
Lan Zhan looked at Wei Ying, wide-eyed, not quite believing what he just heard coming out of Wei Ying’s mouth. Wei Ying. His best friend. Wei Ying. A straight man.
“Wei Ying?” Lan Zhan was scared to ask for clarification, but it had to be done. The last thing he needed was to get his hopes up only to be crushed when he inevitably found out Wei Ying didn't mean what he said.
But Wei Ying only continued with his previous statement, “Yeah Lan Zhan! Think about it! If I drink alcohol right before I kiss you, I'll still have the taste in my mouth. You'll be able to taste the alcohol without getting drunk because there will only be a small amount! The plan is foolproof.”
Lan Zhan felt bewildered. Because actually, the plan was indeed NOT foolproof. In fact, there were only fools involved in this plan, which was bound to cause trouble. For one, there was a probability of Lan Zhan still getting drunk, but whether it was from the actual alcohol or the general taste and feel of Wei Ying’s mouth, Lan Zhan wasn’t sure yet. For two, there was no way Lan Zhan would be able to go back to how he was pre-kissing-Wei-Ying. For three, what if he couldn’t hold himself back, and ended up leaning in for more? And then Wei Ying would inevitably find out his feelings and their years-long friendship would be over just like that. For four… well really this should have been the first point. Wei Ying had been drinking. While Wei Ying’s alcohol tolerance was pretty high, Lan Zhan wasn’t sure if it was worth risking. Just moments ago Wei Ying appeared to be a bit under the influence. It wouldn’t be right for Lan Zhan to accept this proposition knowing Wei Ying wasn’t offering it up fully sober.
But still… Lan Zhan wanted to agree to Wei Ying’s plan. There was only so much he could take, and in between Wei Ying offering to be Lan Zhan’s wingman, and seeing Wei Ying grinding with pretty girls for two hours straight, and now having Wei Ying offer to kiss him, Lan Zhan was growing weak. He’s jealous of the girls that danced with Wei Ying, and he's possessive of Wei Ying and his attention. He’s wanted this for so long and here Wei Ying was, waving a kiss in front of him like a treat. At this point, Lan Zhan was being reduced to a starving dog, and he was losing the control to sit back and not reach for the treat, snarling at anyone else who tried to grab it.
Wei Ying pouted exaggeratedly at Lan Zhan, “Come on Lan Zhan. It's not like an actual kiss. It won't mean anything! It's just a friend helping a friend experience one of the great joys of humankind. It'll be like the time I took you to the live action Shrek musical for the first time.”
Actually, it wasn't like that at all, but Lan Zhan wasn't about to tell Wei Ying that. The last thing he needed was to get Wei Ying side-tracked into ranting about the supposed similarities between his offer to kiss and his insistence to watch a musical Lan Zhan had never heard of. Lan Zhan decided to focus his attention on the first part of Wei Ying’s statement. While the thought of Wei Ying believing it wouldn’t be a real kiss helped relieve Lan Zhan of his guilt somewhat, for the most part, it just made Lan Zhan feel awful. He should be grateful that Wei Ying wouldn't see this as a kiss. It’s almost like a get-out-of-jail-free card; he could kiss a tipsy Wei Ying without worrying that it was without consent because Wei Ying wouldn’t even consider it a kiss. Instead, all he could think about was that Wei Ying wouldn’t even give him the dignity of deigning this a real kiss. To him, it was just a fun experiment to play with his weird best friend.
In the end, Lan Zhan decided to give in to Wei Ying, as was his destiny as soon as Wei Ying got an idea in his head. Lan Zhan giving in to Wei Ying’s plans, not matter how idiotic, was simply as natural as a bee using its wings to fly. It was always going to happen unless some greater force out of their control was there to stop them.
Wei Ying grinned as Lan Zhan fully accepted the offer to kiss. Lan Zhan was finally going to taste alcohol! The thought of kissing Lan Zhan brought upon a strange feeling in his chest. Wei Ying assumed the feeling came from knowing he was about to help his best friend embark on an important journey. It was a giddiness that had to be coming from getting to see Lan Zhan experience alcohol for the first time.
Alternatively, Lan Zhan’s palms felt sweaty, wondering when Wei Ying was going to kiss him. He wondered if he would have to lean against the counter top, or if Wei Ying would corner him next to the fridge.
Surprisingly though, Wei Ying suggested they kiss elsewhere, “so that you won’t feel embarrassed Lan Zhan! Nobody has to know that a Lan tasted alcohol! Even indirectly!”
Lan Zhan nodded, his body starting to tingle at the prospect of his dreams about to come true, even if artificially. He allowed Wei Ying to pull him out of the kitchen and through the living room, not even once questioning where Wei Ying was taking him.
Wei Ying on the other hand, felt gleeful, knowing he was about to share something great with his best friend. Lan Zhan was finally gonna get to taste Wei Ying’s favorite type of drink! About time.
They were almost out of the living room when Lan Zhan abruptly stopped, “Wei Ying, do you need alcohol?” Lan Zhan almost didn’t remind Wei Ying, but the thought of entering a private space with Wei Ying without the main objective of the kiss was making his hopes rise. The thought was enough for him to think up scenarios in which Wei Ying would kiss him just to kiss him. It would make his heart hurt more when the reality didn’t happen, so it would be in Lan Zhan’s best interest to prevent those thoughts from blooming by making sure the alcohol was indeed present when the ‘kissing’ began.
“Hm?” Wei Ying said distractedly, “Alcohol for what?”
“... for the kiss…”
“Huh?.. Oh. Oh! Oh yeah! Um yeah, let me go get some for us! Yeah- I'll just- ha- um let me just-”
“Take my empty water bottle. Put the alcohol there so it doesn’t spill.”
“Okay. Yeah. I'll be right back. Wait here?”
“Mm”
Wei Ying began feeling nervous as he turned away from Lan Zhan. They were actually doing this. Why was this making Wei Ying feel nervous suddenly? Wei Ying expected the excitement, this was something to be excited about after all. It is not everyday that a Lan got to taste alcohol. But what was the reason behind the nervousness?
Wei Ying distractedly filled the water bottle, not checking to see what alcohol he put in. it didn’t really matter actually, as long as Lan Zhan got to taste something alcoholic. As he moved back to Lan Zhan, he couldn't help but notice his sweaty palms, he took turns wiping them one-by-one against his jeans as he got back to Lan Zhan’s side, before grabbing his hand and leading them to their destination: Lan Zhan’s car.
Walking through the hallway felt a bit surreal. Wei Ying couldn’t help but bump into people as he walked, mumbling ‘sorrys’ half-heartedly. He couldn’t really focus on anything except getting to his destination, it was like his mind had zeroed in on that one objective and refused to think of anything else. Wei Ying couldn’t even recall opening the front door of the house or leading Lan Zhan to his car parked a bit further down the block, but eventually they ended up in front of the car. Wei Ying glanced expectantly at Lan Zhan, who simply raised his eyebrow before pulling out his car keys and unlocking the car.
Wei Ying smiled a bit, and, as if on autopilot, he led Lan Zhan to the back door, opening it and moving out of the way.
He had Lan Zhan enter the backseat first, reasoning “there is more room in the back, and you entering first will reassure me that you won't ditch me here” Wei Ying entered the backseat as well, closing and locking the car door behind him. They sat there in almost complete silence for a moment, both facing the front seats as soft music played from the car radio that would automatically turn on when someone was in the car.
Wei Ying, feeling his palms sweaty once more, wiped his hands on his jeans. His heart was ribbiting in his chest, and he couldn’t understand why. This was supposed to be a light, casual, fun moment. A great experience between the two best friends. And yet… It didn’t feel real, sitting here in the quiet next to Lan Zhan. There was something different in this moment, something charged. The air around them felt thicker, and Wei Ying was beginning to find it increasingly hard to breathe or calm himself, he gripped the water bottle in his grasp tighter than he previously had, eternally grateful for Lan Zhan’s stainless steel water bottle; if it had been plastic, it would have made a crunching noise, and Lan Zhan would have become aware of how nervous Wei Ying was feeling. All Wei Ying could hope for was that the quiet music coming out of the car radio would be enough to drown out the sound of his fast beating heart.
Wei Ying, in his nervousness, took a swig from the alcohol, needing the liquid courage, before turning towards Lan Zhan, placing a reassuring smile on his face. He had to act okay with this. Right now, as far as Wei Ying could assume, Lan Zhan was a frightened rabbit; any sudden movement would startle him.
Before he could even look up to glance at Lan Zhan fully, he felt a pair of lips press feather light against his. It was soft, and brief, lasting less than a second. Wei Ying wasn’t even sure it wasn’t just a figment of imagination; the only thing that allowed Wei Ying to realize it was real was the tingling of his lips and the butterflies erupting in his stomach. His eyes subconsciously widened as he glanced at Lan Zhan, who blinked slowly back at him. Lan Zhan’s stare was heavy, but Wei Ying couldn't decipher what it meant. He felt like he was having an out-of-body experience, the car felt exponentially hot, and he couldn’t control his movements as he moved into Lan Zhan’s space in a daze. His heartbeat increased, and he felt dizzy and high. There wasn't enough oxygen in this car. There wasn’t enough room to breathe but it felt so good being here this close to Lan Zhan. His eyes were half-lidded as he watched Lan Zhan’s tongue dart out and lick his lips. Wei Ying’s breath hitched, and he moved in closer, grabbing Lan Zhan by his collar and pulling him in until they were nose to nose. The soft puffs of Lan Zhan’s breaths against Wei Ying’s skin made heat simmer low in Wei Ying’s belly.
“Lan Zhan. There's no way you could have tasted how delicious that drink was just like that. Come here.” He rasped before closing the distance and slotting their lips together properly. They stayed like that for a couple of seconds, both still, overwhelmed with the feeling, before Wei Ying pulled away briefly, sighing.
“Like this” he whispered against Lan Zhan’s lips, before leaning back in and parting Lan Zhan’s lips open with his tongue. He moaned as he tasted Lan Zhan, wanting to get closer than he already was. Lan Zhan began reciprocating the kiss, slipping his own tongue tentatively into Wei Ying’s mouth, as he moved his hands towards Wei Ying's lean waist. He gripped Wei Ying firmly, causing Wei Ying to let out another moan. Together, they moved Wei Ying onto Lan Zhan’s lap, Lan Zhan's legs snug in between Wei Ying’s plush thighs.
Wei Ying went to pull away, intending to take another swig of the water bottle, but Lan Zhan leaned into his retreating form, kissing him once more. This kiss was rougher than the previous ones. It was bruising, and full of biting. Wei Ying brought one of his hands up into Lan Zhan’s hair, gripping the back of his head tightly, as his other hand wrinkled the fabric of Lan Zhan’s shirt on his shoulder.
Wei Ying wasn't sure whether it was the lack of oxygen or the alcohol finally catching up, but he felt like he couldn’t think. All he knew is that he wanted to be like this always. He's never felt this euphoric; kissing has never felt this good.
He didn't know how much time had passed, but he couldn't find it in himself to care. Wei Ying was aware that they should pull apart to breathe, but he didn’t want to stop. It felt good, and it took a moment to realize that he was hard. He couldn’t remember the last time he got this hard from kissing only. Though he supposed calling this ‘only kissing’ would be a bit of a stretch. What Lan Zhan was doing to Wei Ying’s mouth with his tongue was filthy. He was essentially fucking Wei Ying’s mouth with all the thrusting his tongue was doing, and all Wei Ying could do was take it and drool. He felt as Lan Zhan’s hands began wandering, from where they were originally placed on his waist, down to his hips, and then a little lower.
Briefly, Lan Zhan’s fingertips slipped under his shirt, pressing onto Wei Ying’s bare skin in a heated touch that sent Wei Ying spiraling. The simple touch felt so good, Wei Ying couldn't help the little twitch of his hips. Lan Zhan tightened his grip, and Wei Ying couldn't suppress the whine he let out. It just felt so euphoric. He began moving his hips back and forth slowly, shyly, the friction feeling delicious. The simmering in his gut became more pronounced, and Wei Ying suddenly had a name to the emotion he had been feeling since he first proposed kissing Lan Zhan: lust. He wanted this. He wanted him .
Wei Ying felt as one of Lan Zhan’s hands landed on his thigh, and rolled his hips more intentionally, slowly losing his mind to the pleasure he was experiencing. He’s never felt like this, with his brain all fuzzy. It was the feeling of pure ecstasy. He moaned when his cock brushed against Lan Zhan’s. Lan Zhan was hard, and the thought left Wei Ying's mouth watering.
He knew he should probably pull away, they should definitely have a talk about this, as this was no longer just a kiss, but he couldn't force himself to move back. Not even the sudden realization that Wei Ying wasn’t as straight as he’d always thought he’d been was enough to pull him away from Lan Zhan’s space. Instead of pulling away completely , he only pulled back enough to begin kissing Lan Zhan’s jaw, feeling that he would die if his lips weren’t connected to Lan Zhan’s body in some way. Lan Zhan just felt so good. It also didn’t help that Lan Zhan tasted divine. Wei Ying licked along Lan Zhan’s jaw, moving towards his ear.
“Fuck Lan Zhan” he whispered against Lan Zhan’s ear, before he bit his lobe. The low groan Lan Zhan let out sent a shock of electricity straight to Wei Ying’s dick, causing him to increase his grinding. Lan Zhan’s hands finally properly grabbed his ass, and he gripped it tightly while moving Wei Ying, slowly but firmly. back and forth on his lap. Wei Ying gasped at the pressure of Lan Zhan’s hand on his ass, as he mouthed against Lan Zhan’s neck. He bit Lan Zhan’s neck hard, needing desperately to hear Lan Zhan groan again, and he did, before thrusting up into Wei Ying, causing him to see stars.
“Fuck” Wei Ying collapsed against him, mindless in his pleasure as his hips increased their pace. He was so horny, all he could think about was releasing. He whined every time the friction made his cock feel especially good.
“Yeah Lan Zhan. Fuck please.” He panted against Lan Zhan’s neck, drooling onto his shirt. He pulled Lan Zhan’s hair, causing Lan Zhan’s head to tilt to the side, and reattached his lips to Lan Zhan’s beautiful neck. The once blemish-free neck was now littered in bite marks and hickies all of Wei Ying’s doing, and Wei Ying couldn’t help the deep-seeded feeling of satisfaction at the thought of being the one to mark Lan Zhan up. It awakened a possessive romantic feeling towards Lan Zhan he hadn’t been aware he was capable of feeling.
Lan Zhan gripped Wei Ying’s hair and pulled it roughly, forcing Wei Ying to glance up glassy-eyed at Lan Zhan. His eyes were dark with want as he watched Wei Ying drool over the feel of Lan Zhan’s cock under all their clothes. He growled before smashing their lips together once more, wanting to fuck Wei Ying’s pretty, red mouth as hard as he could. He wanted to fold Wei Ying in half, and pound into him right then and there, no longer holding back, but there was only so much they could do in a car.
Wei Ying’s volume kept increasing, as he practically bounced on Lan Zhan. He had to pull away from Lan Zhan’s mouth and try to breathe, feeling that he would pass out soon otherwise. He was so close to coming in his jeans, something he’s never experienced before.
Lan Zhan’s bruising grip kept Wei Ying moving, even as he went limp with mindless pleasure, no longer able to move even though he really wanted to cum. He sat there, receiving Lan Zhan’s treatment wanting nothing more than to climax.
“I'm so close” Wei Ying whined in a choked out whisper against Lan Zhan’s chest, hips stuttering as he felt his release building up in the pit of his stomach. Lan Zhan was panting hard as he moved one of his hands from Wei Ying’s ass to grab onto Wei Ying’s chin, tilting his head up for another kiss. Their breaths mixed as their lips got closer to each other, and all Wei Ying could think was that he just needed a little more. Just a litt-
A sudden wave of knocking against the window had both Lan Zhan and Wei Ying pulling away from each other as fast as possible. They both panted heavily, as they regained their senses, the tension that had been between them since they entered the car rapidly dispersing. Wei Ying glanced out of the window, trying to see who knocked against the car: it was Nie Huaisang.
Wei Ying gave himself a second to compose himself before opening the car door and stepping out, but his legs unexpectedly felt like jelly and weren’t ready to fully support his weight. Wei Ying fell harshly to the ground next to Nie Huaisang’s feet, and he heard as Lan Zhan called his name out in concern before exiting the car himself, using the door on the other side of the car. He rounded the car immediately and helped Wei Ying stand up, leaning him against the car once he was on both of his feet.
Once Wei Ying got over the embarrassment of falling in front of the person who caused his legs to turn to jelly, he turned his attention back to Huaisang who appeared to have gotten super wasted since he last saw him.
He appeared to only barely be keeping his balance, managing to slur out “I heard you were out here Wei-Xiong. Can I stay with you for the night? I’m wasted, and da-ge will kill me if he sees me this way,” while already getting into the backseat.
He quickly laid down and passed out, not even bothering to put on his seat belt.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying stayed outside of the car, both shocked at the turn of events. The drinks were beginning to catch up with Wei Ying as well, and the oncoming headache made it so that he couldn’t fully process what just happened between him and his best friend. He didn’t dare look up at Lan Zhan, scared to find out what Lan Zhan thought about all of this. Instead, Wei Yin cleared his throat and asked, in a meek voice, whether it was okay for Lan Zhan to drive Wei Ying and Huaisang to Wei Ying’s apartment. Lan Zhan simply nodded, not even bothering to verbally respond before walking around the car to the driver's side seat.
Wei Ying entered the car with a bit of difficulty, still not able to make his legs fully function, and waited for Lan Zhan to start driving. They both stayed silent, allowing the car radio music and Nie Huaisang’s snoring to take up most of the car space. Neither knew what to say, nor what to think. What had happened only moments prior was something neither had ever dreamed would happen.
Wei Ying kept opening his mouth, wanting to say something. Anything . But the words wouldn’t come out. What could he even say? Wei Ying hadn’t really had the time to process everything yet. It would be unfair for him to say something without fully knowing what it was that he wanted to say. What if he ended up hurting Lan Zhan with careless, unthought-out words? No. He had to really think things through before having a conversation.
Lan Zhan pulled up to Wei Ying’s apartment building, and Wei Ying felt his heart break a little once he realized Lan Zhan parked at the front instead of in the apartment parking space he usually parks at. Of course Wei Ying should have expected that Lan Zhan wouldn’t want to spend a second longer with Wei Ying than necessary. But even on the days when Lan Zhan was really busy, he would park in that spot and follow Wei Ying all the way up to his apartment just to make sure Wei Ying would get home safe. It hurt knowing that at this moment, Lan Zhan didn’t even want to do that.
Wei Ying bit his lip and braced himself to act strong, before opening the passenger door and finally getting out of the car. He immediately opened the backseat and woke Huaisang up, helping him to slowly get out of the car. Once Huaisang was out, Wei Ying made sure Huaisang leaned heavily against him, and closed the back door of Lan Zhan’s car. Wei Ying gained the courage to finally look at Lan Zhan fully, only to find Lan Zhan already looking at him.
Lan Zhan watched as Wei Ying gave him a look that he simply couldn’t decipher. There was so much Lan Zhan wanted to say. An apology would be a great start, but he couldn’t find the strength to open his mouth and speak. The whole car ride had been torture, with Lan Zhan wanting to repeatedly bash his head against the steering wheel for taking advantage of Wei Ying the way he had. Wei Ying hadn’t even been his usual bubbly, talkative, self the whole way home. He must have been so uncomfortable..
“Thanks for the ride.” Wei Ying spoke quietly, feeling upset but trying to hide it. The last thing he needed was to cry in front of Lan Zhan. He watched on as Lan Zhan gave a quick nod of acknowledgement towards Wei Ying’s ‘thanks’. Wei Ying took a deep breath, deciding to focus on getting Huaisang up to his apartment instead of the deep sadness that was beginning to overtake his mind. He could ball his eyes out later, right now he needed to help his drunk close friend.
Wei Ying turned away from Lan Zhan and Lan Zhan’s car, walking slowly with Huaisang in tow towards the front doors of his apartment building. He winced as he heard the car behind him drive away. Lan Zhan didn’t even stay to make sure Wei Ying made it into the building…
Has Wei Ying permanently damaged his friendship with Lan Zhan? Is this the end of their friendship?
