Hogwarts AU Outline/Ideas

Summary:

My brain has died and seized up and I can no longer write normally, so have bite-sized Hogwarts headcanons I thought up of instead of sleeping!

There will be some heavy edits made as time goes on before I fully make a fanfic, and I’ll probably go into depth about characters per chapter to flesh them out more!! But other than that, all just ideas and concepts!!

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Setting:

  • Sunny, Kel, Basil, and Aubrey: 4th/5th year
  • Hero and Mari: 7th year/already graduated
  • Purebloods: Sunny, Mari, Basil, Bowen, Daphne, Mikhael, Jay (Jock)
  • Half-bloods (muggleborn father, halfblood mother): Kel and Hero
  • Halfbloods (in general) Kim, Vance, Angel, Mincy, Rai (jukebox guy)
  • Muggleborn: Aubrey, Charlie, Pretty Boy

Note: I do not plan to write all of them in as main characters, only wanted to even out the board

Slytherin:

  • Daphne
  • Bowen (for both, family reasons)
  • Mari
  • Kim
  • Basil (peer pressured by parents)

Hufflepuff:

  • Kel
  • Vance
  • Charlie
  • Jay (Jock)

Gryffindor:

  • Angel
  • Mikhael (rebellion)
  • Aubrey
  • Rai

Ravenclaw:

  • Hero
  • Sunny
  • Pretty Boy (cause he looks awesome in blue)
  • Mincy

World changes first:

  • In this Au, Slytherins aren’t as hated
  • And it doesn’t take place in the 1900’s (mostly because I fully accept the headcanon that omori takes place around the 2000’s)
  • Slytherins still have the “house fanatics” but every house does
  • Mari and Sunny are born into a “Slytherin house fanatic” family concerned about blood purity
  • But not to the extent of the original books’ slytherin houses
  • Their parents are assholes but not immoral
  • Basil has absent parents as always
  • But he is a childhood friend of Sunny’s because pureblood stuff and slytherin family
  • Which is funny cause Basil has like no spine but he ends up in Slytherin anyway
  • au of Sunny and Mari being at least a little British because they are British here
  • Kel and Hero are half-bloods made up of a muggleborn father and halfblood mother
  • So fairly magical family but not so pureblood-y
  • Aubrey is Kel and Hero’s muggleborn neighborhood friend (more on that later)
  • Endgame is Suntan, Cotton Candy, and Heromari.
  • Hero and Mari thinking Kel and Sunny just aren’t interested in dating at all until Aubrey hints at how close Kel is with Sunny and Basil backs it up with how Sunny looks out for Kel
  • Then Boom

Mari (Slytherin):

  • Ok, so to explain why she’s in the house of the green, I need to explain how Slytherin is supposed to be viewed
  • So, Slytherin house is the house of the charming, the ambitious, the perfectionistic, the bold and assertive, and basically, Mari. Mari is shown multiple times to be a girlboss without the gatekeeper or gaslight aspect of girlbossing, which is slytherin (this is coming from a hufflepuff so bare with me)
  • This is all, however, without infringing on her loyalty to her loved ones, her hard-working nature, and her loving warmth
  • But as stated, Mari knows who she is, what she wants, and she knows how to get it
  • She wants to make sure her dear little brother isn’t left out of anything at home? Easy! She wants to become Head girl? Of course! She wants to date the cute Ravenclaw boy in her potions class? Not a chance she won’t!
  • She knows who dislikes and she knows how to deal with them, even if it’s her own parents
  • She cares for who she cares for, and for them she will never bend
  • Though she might play pranks on Hero and Sunny every now and then (and Kel too, if the opportunity arises)
  • Basil looks up to her as much as he finds her amusing, and while Mari tries to support him as much as she can, being “perfect” leaves quite a bit on her plate
  • Especially when dealing with her parents, school expectations, and her life plan
  • Hero and Sunny help her a lot in terms of being there for her without any need for something perfect in return
  • So she always has time for them, if only to make sure she doesn’t go insane by running away from everything to hide with them
  • She writes to Hero every week of her break, sends him pictures when she can, and sends him parcels (which may or may not have joke spiders sometimes)
  • She apologizes dearly for it if she genuinely freaks him out too much, though
  • In this AU, she doesn’t know about Aubrey as well, if only as the girl who had a crush on her brother first
  • But when she notices Sunny liking Kel, she knows it’s Kel who’ll win
  • Because she knows her brother more than she knows her life plan, and she wants to make sure that as much as she is happy, that the people around her are too
  • She has a hard time relying on people who aren’t Sunny and Hero, though, as she feels the perfection means she is not allowed to do so as issues are imperfect and she shouldn’t let people see them
  • She does, however, insist on giving Aubrey her “hand-me-down” (they’re new) clothes and books for school when she notices Aubrey doesn’t have the best stuff
  • She bonds with Aubrey this way, providing her the shoulder not many people offer the poor girl
  • When Mari takes muggle studies as an elective, she first turns to Aubrey as a way to bond with her
  • Aubrey slowly warms up to Mari until she’s asking her all the questions about magic that Kel couldn’t answer (Because Kel is a little silly and does not pay attention much to anything that isn’t Quidditch)

Sunny (Ravenclaw):

  • To explain: Ravenclaws are smart, yes, but only when it comes to things they like. Think of a dense professor with 5 phds, like that.
  • (Also blue is a cute colour on Sunny)
  • He insisted on Ravenclaw instead of Hufflepuff like the hat wanted for him because his parents would immediately start neglecting him in favour of Mari and not even Mari could change that
  • Plus, Sunny is great when it comes to his niche of interest, but isn’t bad at everything else
  • He is forever grateful to Mari for making sure his parents at least acknowledge some of his talent, even if it’s only offhandedly most of the time
  • Actually, he’s forever grateful for Mari in general, for being there for him and for making him feel worthy of something by relying on him in overwhelming times
  • Take for example the week before the family Christmas party where Sunny would let her hide in his room to let her emotions out before she had to play perfect girl in front of guests for a whole day
  • She cried a lot out of stress, and Sunny sat and listened through it all
  • Sunny even went and took up some of her smaller duties whenever he could
  • Which brings us to Mari’s perfect facade and how Sunny helps her keep it up
  • Mari hates herbology as much as she loves Charms
  • So with how Sunny is literally besties with planty (Basil), it’s something he finds pretty easy if not relaxing
  • It’s the same for other subjects she dislikes
  • He accidentally does this but it benefits them both in the end so neither mind it
  • In fact, because of how much Mari lets him read ahead using her own beat up books, by the time he reaches first year his understanding of herbology, potions, and care for magical creatures is already at a 3rd year level
  • It doesn’t mean he’s bad at everything else, just not as interested
  • This doesn’t stop him from not noticing his own growing crush on Kel until Mari’s last year, however
  • Basil tries his best to keep Sunny out of trouble when Mari’s away, but more often than not gets dragged into his shenanigans regardless
  • Before Hogwarts, Sunny would bring Basil on adventures to the nearby woods because it’s too stuffy for both to be in the mansion
  • Basil is always scared of upsetting his parents, but Sunny assures him that they don’t mind
  • Doesn’t mean that Basil minds the actual adventure because he actually seems to have fun when Sunny drags them out of the pureblood neighborhood
  • After he calms down, that is
  • And Sunny waits for him to calm down before they head out
  • Basil will rant about every cool plant they see along the way, pulling out an old camera to take pictures of them for his plant-keeping book
  • Sometimes he gets Sunny in the picture, too and usually keeps those in the book too to show Mari when she has the time to check on them
  • Sunny knows Basil like the back of his hand, and Basil knows Sunny like the back of his hand
  • This is because of how much they’ve had to rely on each other with Basil’s absentee parents and Sunny’s neglectful ones
  • But sad plant boys aside
  • Sunny is amazingly good at art
  • His art had been improving since he was 5, so he’s pretty good at it
  • It’s the only thing his parents really praise him for because it’s so noticeable just how skillful he is
  • When he slowly starts liking Kel, he starts painting him more
  • Kel in flowers, covered in mud; Kel asleep in class, an adapted sketch from his notes-book; Kel smiling at him in his quidditch robes, all sweaty and red-faced
  • Mari convinces him to gift some to Kel, only the small ones, and Kel is always so amazed with them
  • Basil teases him for it but lets him use his plant pictures for references
  • Sunny is a pretty mild person in general, blooming through life ever slowly in direct contrast to his “Plan, Action, Success” type sister, who has everything under control
  • But he doesn’t take it as slowly as Basil seems to
  • This doesn’t cut into his loyal, empathetic, and loving nature however, as with how neglectful his parents already are, and with how Mari basically raised him, it’s no surprise he took after her

Kel (Hufflepuff):

  • Do I even need to explain??? This man is a golden retriever— not blonde, of course — in human form
  • He waited for so long for Sunny
  • And he knocks on your door for so stupid long in game
  • Literally loyalty incarnate
  • He’s also a lot of other things, but he’s the Hufflepuff chaser from his 2nd year onwards
  • Neglected brother, bonds with Sunny over that when they get a whole lot closer over shared classes
  • Whenever possible, he sits next to Aubrey or Sunny in whatever classes they share, especially when it comes to classes like potions, DADA, and herbology (especially so as the years went on)
  • But when it came to flying classes, Kel had to help Sunny with his fear of heights (Sunny was thankful their schedules lined for that) though the classes were only for the first year
  • Kel is as loyal as ever, even letting Sunny bring him along to the library at times just to read or nap together if only to hang out with him
  • Or letting Aubrey drag him to the courtyard to play muggle games with her and Basil on the days Sunny has an extracurricular class
  • Or letting Basil rant to him about plants when he’s stuck in the infirmary wing after a rough quidditch game and Sunny and Aubrey’s classes have already started
  • He doesn’t know much about a lot of the things any of them tell him, but he tries his best to remember regardless
  • Always cheerful and joyous, if a little dampened at home by how his parents clearly favour Hero at times
  • This doesn’t change the fact that he cares for Hero quite a bit, and Hero cares about him too
  • Hero even does as Mari does for Sunny, but in his own way, by highlighting Kel’s achievements when it seems the focus is being put away from him
  • Kel is genuinely good at quidditch, though
  • Like really good
  • Like, he will get an invitation to play at a national team after school type good
  • But he struggles with being compared to Hero constantly at home, and even with some of his teachers at school
  • He and Sunny help each other deal with this because in their group they really are the only younger siblings
  • This leads to more library days, more hangouts, more hogsmeade trips with just the two of them
  • But Suntan later (Please stop me before I forget to write about Kel as a character)
  • Kel, also, can be a little too honest at times (which is more of a Gryffindor trait but shhhhh)
  • Too blunt and tactless, to put simply
  • He will be honest with you if that shirt goes horribly with your hair
  • Speaking of, he actually has a pretty good fashion sense
  • A bit strange, but it comes from how his mom growing up would tell him and Hero all about the art of fashion
  • He uses this to help people as best he can when they turn to him about this stuff
  • Other than helping, though, he very much lives up to his house reputation of reliable, kind, hard-working, and loyal
  • This can be seen in the way he supports Hero in his dreams to become a chef instead of the auror/minister his parents want him to be with Mari
  • And in the way he practices so much and is always out on the quidditch field that his presence there is a staple for most of the quidditch teams (in the stands if he’s not playing)
  • He literally has notes all about strategies for quidditch that his whole team will look to when lost for plans
  • It’s why Kel’s team almost always wins their games
  • But that doesn’t mean he has an ego
  • Oh no does this man not have an ego in the slightest
  • Someone get him one please
  • Doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to rely on people, however
  • He just won’t believe you if you point out he’s actually pretty skilled at quidditch
  • Which is what frustrates Aubrey the most when they practice together and what irks Basil and Sunny
  • Only difference is Aubrey is more outward and honest about how dense he’s being compared to the two

Hero (Ravenclaw):

  • I debated over this for a long time, and even asked some friends for their opinion
  • But I think I settled on Ravenclaw instead of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor like I had originally planned because the more I thought about it….
  • 20-medal-Hero’s reaction to spiders is like a 5-phd-professor locking his keys in the car for the 5th time that week
  • And what is ravenclaw if not that???
  • He’s smart, he’s skilled, but also his brother is Kel
  • And as “perfect” as he might be, he is no better when it comes to being reckless
  • It’s why he knows when to stop Kel, because he himself has done most of what Kel attempts to do in terms of… recklessness
  • By this I mean like, eating mud and stuff
  • Because Hero, ever perfect, is Kel’s brother
  • And Kel being reckless and careless was not just out of the blue
  • But while Kel remains wild until much later in life, Hero is quickly able to reel himself in most of the time
  • Most of the time, with the some being when it comes to Mari
  • He will try to impress Mari, only to somehow land himself in the infirmary wing
  • And Mari finds it so endearing but worrying… and maybe a little funny too, but she won’t ever say that to his face
  • (He can see it though sometimes when he explains what he was trying to do)
  • She would always discourage him from stuff like this if she could catch it though, mostly because it is not fun to find out your boyfriend landed himself in the infirmary again
  • Other than accidentally hurting himself to impress her, he will sometimes bring the wrong thing to their picnic dates (i.e put his textbook in the picnic basket, packed his clothes instead of food, etc.) ;accidentally wrap the wrong gift (he accidentally once mixed up Hector’s and Mari’s gift because he put them both in similar boxes so she couldn’t guess what it was) or just make silly little mistakes only she will know about
  • It works in a way, though, because she feels special to be one of the few to know that perfect Hero can make silly mistakes too
  • Malewife™ fr
  • He often wishes he was closer to Sunny than he was, because he often had a hard time figuring out gifts for Mari (she refused to say what she wanted)
  • But also, he wishes he was closer in general to the rest of the group
  • However, with how busy he and Mari are it’s no surprise they have no time to play around even if they wanted to
  • He still is able to ask Sunny, but sometimes Sunny trolls him a little by refusing to tell
  • He gets back at Sunny by doing the same when Sunny starts crushing on Kel
  • When possible though, he finds Sunny in the common room and sneaks him a self-made snack
  • Sunny is more generous when that happens and is more likely to give Hero genuine advice about what Mari likes
  • He would ask Basil, but Basil doesn’t open up easily and so it’s a while before he’s actually able to
  • Once he is though, he asks both Sunny and Basil because while Sunny is her brother, Basil is in the same house as her
  • Mari catches onto this quick, however, and subtly encourages both of them to mess with Hero so they don’t tell
  • Hero says it’s unfair because Kel easily talks about what Hero likes and Sunny is her brother
  • Mari does relent sometimes, if only for Hero’s sake because they trade gifts often and she knows he’d feel bad if he bought her a gift she disliked
  • Off topic, but he spends what time he can at the kitchens with the elves to learn how to cook from them
  • Mari is often his first taste-tester, and then Kel if he has any extra
  • It’s one of his main interests
  • But his parents want him to be an auror, so he has to focus on defense against the dark arts, charms, and transfiguration, even if all he wants to do is simply become a chef
  • It’s not like he dislikes or is bad at those subjects, he’d just rather work on his cooking skills and make food that would make the people he loves happy
  • He’s got jelly for a backbone sometimes, though, so it’s a bit hard for him to say no to his parents
  • This all doesn’t infringe, however, into his kind, caring, and charming personality, if only puts an emphasis on the side of him that not many often see

Aubrey (Gryffindor):

  • I haven’t written about her enough because my tiny pea brain can only handle thinking of two people at a time (Suntan, Heromari, Cotton Candy, occasionally plant boy)
  • So Kim will be mentioned a lot here too let’s go
  • But about her placement, it’s honestly canon that Aubrey is not only passionate, but stubborn to a fault at times too
  • It goes hand-in-hand with her honest personality
  • She can and will tell you off if she disagrees with you, no matter who or what you are
  • Sha hangs out a lot with Sunny and Basil in her free time, often just going where they want to
  • Which is more often than not the greenhouse or the courtyard (Basil has plants everywhere the sun shines)
  • She enjoys learning about them, though
  • Especially when Basil talks about herbs she can grow at home or especially vibrant flowers
  • She makes sure to include Sunny in the conversations and makes sure he doesn’t fall asleep on wherever he’s laying
  • Sometimes she drags Kel to Hogsmeade so she can catch up with him
  • They spend the whole day in the jokes shop, trying to guess what each item is for before they read the label
  • And then run off to check out if any new quidditch brooms were released
  • This is where she first butts-heads with ever-clever Kim
  • Who makes fun of Kel as his “quidditch rival” in front of Aubrey
  • This spirals into an argument that Kel has to pull her away from before it turns into a fight
  • And on the way back, Aubrey is fuming about Kim, who calls them rivals when they bump into each other in the hallway later that week
  • A rivalry that slowly turns into a romance after Aubrey catches Kim alone in the library
  • She was supposed to meet with Sunny to ask for Potions help because of a project she didn’t really understand before she found Kim crying in the corner
  • Kim doesn’t talk about why she’s upset and tries to mess with Aubrey instead, but stops when Aubrey turns around to leave
  • It becomes clear they have a lot in common, even if Kim is still as mischievous as she is
  • Sunny sees her and decides to find Basil instead, not wanting to interrupt Kim and Aubrey
  • Of course he asks her about this later that day and she thanks him for understanding, to which he simply gives her a thumbs-up and a quick pat on the shoulder
  • This is the start of her and Kim’s friendship turned romance where Kim introduces Aubrey to the Hooligans
  • Her ragtag posse of friends who cause mischief and mayhem
  • It’s later into their school years that Kim genuinely confesses
  • Kim’s confession is mostly talking about how she likes messing with Aubrey cause she’s cute
  • It’s enough to make Aubrey laugh, and enough to make her give her a chance
  • And if making her laugh wasn’t enough, Kim and her genuinely share common interests in the form of classes they like
  • Those being Astronomy, Herbology, flying, and defense against the dark arts
  • It’s Kim who finally encourages her to apply for her quidditch team and cheers for her when she’s put into the position of beater
  • Kel starts to get along with Kim around this point as he had also been insisting she join the Gryffindor team
  • They’d played together in his and Hero’s backyard before Hogwarts and he always insisted she was an awesome beater
  • So he learns to get along with Kim just for that
  • She and Kel often practice together whenever they can with Kim and Sunny cheering them on respectively
  • Basil and her first started to genuinely bond over Herbology, especially since he knew so much from even before his first year
  • That never really changes even with everything happening
  • She’s especially grateful for Mari and Basil for all they do for her sake despite only having met her at school, with Basil making sure to study with her and Mari giving her “hand-me-downs”
  • She knows they’re new, but can’t refuse because of her situation
  • Mari doesn’t ever mention it much, but if she ever feels guilty, Mari simply asks her to try her best in her classes as “payment”
  • So Aubrey tries her hardest even in the classes she dislikes
  • Because while the emphasis might be on her bravery and stubborn defiance, Aubrey is still as loyal and kind and loving as the others
  • And she isn’t one to let down the people she loves

Basil (Slytherin):

  • Basil is in Slytherin for the same reason Draco is in Slytherin: because that’s what his parents expected
  • And without a backbone he’s more like Regulus than Draco
  • He didn’t mind the thought at first though, thinking he and Sunny would both be in the same house
  • Until Sunny is sorted in Ravenclaw and Basil is left all alone
  • Mari tries her best to help him, but there’s only so much she can do with everything she already has
  • Sunny doesn’t let him stay alone and introduces him to Kel and Aubrey to make sure he isn’t
  • Because while Sunny may have a bazillion extracurricular classes, that doesn’t mean Basil has to be alone
  • He doesn’t really accept their invitations at first, still wary of them
  • A trait developed after years of his parents making “friends” for him
  • It’s a struggle for Basil to be comfortable in the dorm rooms, especially when many of the “friends” his parents made for him loiter around to try and win his favour
  • So he spends as much time as he can out of the dungeons where Slytherin House rests
  • Which pushes him right into Aubrey and Kel, who drag him all over the castle for adventures
  • They’d go all the way up to the astronomy towers to go find Mari, and then visit Hero down in the kitchens with the elves whether or not they were successful in finding her
  • He’d give them snacks and they’d all just chat for a bit before they’d be one their way again
  • Then, when it was time, they’d pick up Sunny from his classes and drag him with them too
  • Kel is more rambunctious than he’s used to, but he’s also more considerate than a lot of Basil’s housemates so he doesn’t mind
  • Kel, as silly as he is, makes sure to include Basil as much as he includes Sunny, and it helps him relax into the group
  • Aubrey finds their common ground in their shared interest in Herbology, asking him new things each day
  • This leads to Aubrey going to Basil whenever she had issues in Herbology class, or just when she had questions
  • She wasn’t one to raise her hand in classes, so if she had any questions at all, they’d go to Basil, who probably should get a degree by now because of how much he knows
  • Sunny, though stoic, expresses pride in Basil’s knowledge of plants, having watched him grow and learn as they grew up
  • He’d chime in every now and then with a fact Basil might have forgotten, or to explain something in simpler detail, but mostly listened as Aubrey asked questions and Kel made joking comments about carnivorous plants and huge flowers
  • And they’d do this all the way until Supper, where they have to split up and find their respective tables
  • Sunny pats his back in reassurance everytime, always sending him off to Mari wordlessly
  • It helps calm Basil down enough for him to find a spot beside Mari and hide, and she’s understanding in the way she makes sure he’s comfortable enough to eat by asking him to rant about plants
  • Talking about plants always puts him in the best mood, so Mari makes sure to bring interesting questions to each supper so he at least gets distracted enough to start eating
  • Along with Sunny, he always goes to his friends’ quidditch games, making sure to prepare flowers for them after
  • He has a hard time choosing who to cheer for if both Aubrey and Kel are on the field, so instead he cheers on every point and win
  • Aubrey often appreciates the flowers the most, making sure to keep them alive for as long as she can in her dorm
  • Kel is confused, but shows his appreciation through sweaty hugs and displaying them in his dorm (he forgets to take care of them most of the time, but Basil simply finds that endearing)
  • When his schedule starts clogging up, too, he finds something to rant to Sunny about again
  • Sunny simply listens, as always, but drags them out to the courtyard for fresh air if he thinks Basil looks too stressed and sickly
  • It’s something he’s self-conscious about as a “Slytherin”, but Sunny and Mari assure him that it doesn’t make him any less respectable
  • He so often feels out of place in his house that looking frail and sickly only adds to that feeling of disconnect
  • But Sunny and Mari make sure to reassure him that no, he doesn’t look out of place
  • Sometimes though, Mari’s expression turns… sad, but only for a moment
  • He knows why
  • Because if there was one thing he regrets the most, it was following what his parents wanted

Siblings

Sunny and Mari:

  • Sunny and Mari come from a long line of Slytherins (and occasionally ravenclaws)
  • So when Mari (ever perfect) is put into slytherin, it’s no surprise
  • It is a surprise when she falls in love with the arachnophobic, ironically nicknamed, Ravenclaw Hero by way of scaring him with spiders in his desk every chance she can get to sit beside him
  • By the time Sunny is on his way to attend his first year at Hogwarts, Hero knows him by full name, and to an extent Kel knows who he is too
  • Because Mari sends him pictures during her breaks and he sends some to hers and in them they catch their siblings
  • Sunny doesn’t really know who Kel is though because there are no clear pictures of Kel, only blurry ones
  • More on that later, however
  • Usual stuff, no accident even though Sunny and Mari still play the violin and Piano respectively
  • Mari is great at everything except for potions, care for magical creatures, art, and Herbology
  • And unsurprisingly, Sunny is good at them, as always is with the two
  • Mari loves transfiguration and charms the most of her classes, along with music, arithmancy and defense against the dark arts (Sunny is also pretty good at that class, but not as good as Mari)
  • Even with the differences in their interests, they get along swimmingly with Mari always on the lookout for her brother and vice versa
  • Which is why it especially hurts both when they show clear favouritism to Mari
  • When Mari gets into an accident and can no longer play quidditch anymore, they try to get Sunny into it but become disappointed when he shows clear distaste for the sport
  • Mari supports him in his decision and is quite upset with her parents until they let up and let him be
  • So when the favouritism worsens after Sunny’s sorting, she makes sure to always include him with her in whatever she can, sharing what she has
  • Both to metaphorically spit on her parents and to show her brother her support
  • They love each other lots and look up to each other most, as Mari will always look up to her peaceful little brother, and Sunny will always look up to his perfect big sister
  • Mari also stops Sunny from doing a number of regrettable things on the daily, which leads to some funny interactions that she treasures and writes to Hero about (or tells him in person once she’s back at school)
  • It’s what separates them as siblings from Hero and Kel…

Hero and Kel:

  • While Hero treasured Kel in the same way Mari treasured Sunny, Hero is more flexible when it comes to letting Kel be… stupid and reckless, for a lack of better words
  • By that I mean like stealing the chocolates from the cupboard at 12am
  • This means also that Hero can and will challenge Kel to a race, only to lose because Kel is a ball of unending energy and speed
  • This never sours anything between them, though, nothing really does
  • Not even when, like Mari’s parents, Hero’s show clear favouritism to him
  • He’s upset about it, but it’s easy to make sure Kel doesn’t notice and feel disheartened
  • Hero still makes sure to include Kel in whatever he can and to share whatever he has with him
  • When he meets Mari, Hero tells Kel all about her in his letters
  • At first it’s one-off sentences about the “mean girl” in his potions class who won’t leave him alone with the spiders, school adventures still his main focus
  • But as time went on, Mari would change from “mean girl” to “pretty cute classmate” until Kel joyfully finds her described as “girlfriend”
  • Hero shows Kel the pictures Mari sends him, where he meets Sunny unofficially for the first time
  • More on Suntan later
  • Hero talks to Kel about most things in the school life, even making sure to give him tips for his time there that Kel takes to heart
  • And during celebrations, if the focus ever shifts out of Kel’s favour, Hero brings up Kel’s achievements (even the small ones that Hero is always still impressed by)
  • Hero never wants Kel to feel the need to be his carbon copy, and so reminds him everyday that the most important thing is that he is himself
  • Kel greatly appreciates this, as he already struggles with being told by teachers and parents to be more like Hero
  • They turn to each other for advice, even if they’re just bouncing the same brain cell between themselves
  • It’s pretty funny to see, if sweet

Brief Suntan because I can’t help myself:

    • SUNTANSUNTANSUNTAN
    • Brain Rot™ sorry
    • When they first met, it was an instant understanding and connection
    • Even before they started crushing on each other, Sunny and Kel would just have long talks whenever they could
    • By that I mean Sunny genuinely talks to Kel more than just listening
    • Sunny brings the ever excitable Kel back down to Earth most of time, but is not against sneaking out with him on adventures around the castle
    • They often sneak their way to hidden corners of the castle, or to the kitchens for late night snacks
    • Kel is a puppy around Sunny, and Sunny loves it
    • You can find them curled up into each other in the library a lot if neither have anything to do
    • Sunny will read Kel to sleep, falling asleep after because Kel has him in his arms and won’t let go
    • Sunny is just as enthusiastic about Kel, however
    • If Kel is going to a quidditch match, so is Sunny! Even it’s just to watch another team practice
    • He helps Kel make his notes for quidditch strategies and offers valuable insight from books he read about quidditch strategies
    • He only reads them for Kel so that he can help him brainstorm
    • Kel at first thinks Sunny does this because he likes quidditch too until Sunny confesses it’s for him
