“Hey Ryuzaki, are you up to taking a shower together?”
L was certainly not expecting that when the brunette declared that he was off to go bathe, in which he assumed he was off to go bathe alone.
He turned to face the man who was peaking his head through the door frame with a towel in hand.
“Light-kun never asks me to shower with him,” L placed a finger in his mouth and tilted his head. “what is the goal that you wish to achieve?”
Light scoffed and spoke to L with nothing except sincerity laced in his voice. “I don’t have a “goal” Ryuzaki, can’t I just ask to shower with my boyfriend?”
Yes, boyfriend. L had not gotten used to that title yet. Light had told him if he didn’t want to have labels then that was okay, but L was willing to try and let the title grow on him.
Barely even two months ago, they expressed their mutual feelings, though it wasn’t as romantic as one would think it.
L had assumed that Light had some ulterior motive, that he was trying to work his way into his mind and toy with him. But after a fair amount of arguing, he was able to convince L that he just simply liked the man. And much to Light’s surprise, L liked him as well.
But sadly due to their current predicament, L was sure that there wasn’t a happy ending for them.
Light didn’t want to focus on that, at all. He thought it was a quite morbid thing to say right after confessing their mutual affection towards one another. So he banned him from expressing such thoughts aloud.
Light noticed L had spaced out when he has begun to nibble on his finger. Light thought he would be able to get a simple yes or no from L, but why would he think such a foolish thing.
Light had begun to walk towards L but the older man had yet to acknowledge his presence so he gently removed his finger from his mouth and L’s eyes snapped towards him. “Hm?”
“You know you don’t have to shower with me if you don’t want to, it was just an idea so don’t worry about it too much.” A gentle smile crept across Light’s face and L couldn’t help but smile back.
“No, I’m sorry, I was merely lost in thought. But I’ll gladly join you Light-kun.”
“Alright,” Light dropped the towel on the bed. “I’ll be in the bathroom when you’re ready” Light said as he tightened the fabric around his waist and headed for the bathroom.
It took some strength to remove his eyes from the lean back walking away but he finally did and he began to rid himself of his shirt. They’ve seen each other shirtless before as well as nude multiple times as they prepared for the day with each other. But even so, L still worries that Light finds his body disgusting.
He himself, didn’t particularly have a problem with his body. He didn’t hate it, but he didn’t love it. It was merely something he had to live with, because there wasn’t a chance that he was going to put in the effort to change it regardless.
But to others, L’s body was seen as very unnatural, especially to his old partners. For people who claim to love you, they never acted like it. All had been very cold towards him, especially one man. He seemed to be obsessed with him more than he claimed to actually love him. L’s well-being never crossed his mind, he was sure of it. Their relationship was one formed out of his need for control, it was what he craved. If L didn’t leave him he was sure he’d have a lot more scars, both physical and mental, than he left with.
Naturally, he couldn’t care less about what anyone thinks of him, but now that he’s with Light, he can’t help but think otherwise.
L’s pants had dropped to floor along with his undergarments. Deciding to discard of his clothing after his shower, he wrapped the towel around his hips and made his way to the bathroom.
When he made it inside the bathroom, Light was checking the water temperature inside the shower. It seems that Light had heard L enter, because he immediately turned around and surprised L with a smirk. “Well, look who decided to show up.”
L scoffed as he walked towards Light and placed a hand on his shoulder. “I couldn’t even fathom the thought of standing you up.” he teased.
“Hm, well good thing you didn’t, because the water is just right and if you took any longer we would probably be bathing in ice. So,” he opened the shower door and extended a hand inside. “care to join me?”
L couldn’t help but roll his eyes but of course, accepted his offer. “Of course, your majesty.”
L removed his towel and hung it on the rack, he then proceeded to step inside the glass box and Light followed suit.
The water kissed his skin and so did Light, though it was very chaste and was only placed on his cheek.
“Hmm,” L hummed in satisfaction as Light wrapped his arms around his waist from behind him. He was scared Light might feel his ribs, but he never mentioned them before. Light never held him like he was scared to break him, or like he was indestructible. He just held him with so much love L swore he could feel it rolling off of him.
He could feel his heartbeat. The rise and fall of his chest, his skin, his hair — L wanted to feel it all.
The pads of Light’s fingertips tickled his skin as his breath did the same. The light air raising the hairs on the back of his neck, sending vibrations down his spine, L knew that relaxation had come to claim him.
“What is your reasoning behind such a sensual act? I thought we were in here to bathe.” L let his head rest against Light’s shoulder and leaned into the comfort that he was willingly giving him.
“We are, can’t I just hold you?” he leaned in closer and L swore he could hear him smiling from behind him. “And by the looks of it, you seem to be enjoying it as well. Don’t think I didn’t feel you lean into me.”
“That’s because I am.” L chuckled.
L wasn’t particularly fond of showers or baths. He had his own washing machine that he used often. He found bathing oneself to be a chore. But if these are the benefits that showering reaps, he decided he’ll be showering more often.
Though honestly, L only wanted to shower and get out. “We should really get to bathing-“
“Wait.”
Light caught L’s hand in mid air as he was reaching for the shampoo. L lifted his head up from his shoulder and cocked his head at Light. “What, are you alright?”
“Yeah, let me just..” he reached his hand out farther and grabbed the shampoo. Light had removed his other hand from L’s waist and L immediately missed the warmth that he had provided.
But suddenly a cold substance had landed on his head as he felt fingers slowly sink into his scalp.
Hands were swimming in the dark ocean, slowly sinking down to the scalp. L felt true bliss. He didn’t want to tell him to stop, that he could do it by himself. He wasn’t going to tell him to stop.
Fingertips were swimming down on the ocean floor, touching the sand, as his scalp was slowly being massaged. There was no way for L to describe exactly what he was feeling, it was simply too serene to put into words. He shut his eyes and suddenly he felt like he was floating. Light was massaging away every heavy thing on his mind, every awful thought he conjured up, all disappearing in an instant. It was only him and Light, and he couldn’t help but feel his heart start to race.
All he could do was breathe. He released small sighs that nearly almost turned into groans as Light began to swim up to the surface, lathering up the rest of his locks. He could almost taste the strawberry shampoo.
The hands were out of the water and the only thing that L could do was yearn for that touch one more time. He was suddenly dropped back down to ground level and he hated it, immensely. He opened his eyes and turned around, catching Light’s hand.
“No..” L frowned and intertwined his fingers with Light’s. Light’s look of confusion soon turned into a look that could only be described as adoration.
Light smiled and couldn’t help but admire the sight in front of him. A sudsy L with a pout on his face was something he didn’t know he needed, but was happy he got to experience it all the while. “I’m only grabbing the body wash, Ryuzaki. It’s okay, I’m not finished yet.”
L suddenly released Light’s wrist and seemed rather embarrassed. “Oh..okay then. I apologize.” L turned back around and felt an arm wrap around his chest. He heard a laugh. “There’s no need to apologize.”
The right arm that belonged to the brunette stretched out in front of him to grab the soap and then a washcloth. The arm on his chest had been abruptly removed but then heard a quick click.
L then felt the cloth rest upon his right shoulder blade as it began to dance upon his skin. Leaving a trail of snow after every step, leaving a farewell gift of bubbles to his skin. Slowly twirling and gliding it’s way down to bottom of his back.
L didn’t know how to process what was happening, could barely comprehend it. All L knew is that he loved every minute of it. He felt so loved he didn’t know what he was going to do with himself. His chest started to swell as Light made his way down to his legs. He knew that Light was being very attentive as he felt that no part of his legs were left without soap. The fabric hugged his leg and then did Light.
An arm had wrapped around his right leg and he felt two pairs of lips settle on the side of his thigh. For such a simple kiss, there was so much love put into it, as L could still feel the tingling sensation on his thigh that reminded him that this is in fact real.
This was such a new experience for L, as he’s never been with partners that have treated him so gently or made him feel this way. He doesn’t know how to handle it. He’s not used to this feeling. He didn’t think he’d respond this way to such a simple gesture of care. He didn’t know love could be so gentle, so kind.
All of this feels too surreal, too good to be true. This type of love, he’s already so madly in love with it. A hand placed itself upon L’s mandible and he opened his eyes to see the beautiful person that is Light. L thought that he was going to melt right there, right under the loving gaze peering into his soul.
L had relaxed a little bit more so Light could easily maneuver his arms , gently picking them up and setting them down. Then Light stopped.
The big scar on his chest was screaming for attention. The smaller ones had been payed no mind as Light was too busy sudsing his partner to notice. But this one couldn’t be ignored, not at all. It was begging for attention and Light had finally gave in.
God, how L hoped that he wouldn’t say anything, that he wouldn’t ask for a story or explanation. He seemed to be staring at the scar for a long while. He was petrified that Light was judging it, found it grotesque. Scanning over his face, it was unreadable — only feeding into his anxieties. But then, an unknown expression appeared, one that he had yet to see from Light. A frown had settled upon Light’s face, his heart eyes suddenly turned dark, and he could see the cogs turning in his brain.
He was prepared to give an explanation but then,
The sound of lips echoed off the tiled walls.
Light held the man by the sides of the ribs as his lips were dancing across the jagged skin. Affection was flowing into L and he couldn’t take the overwhelming feeling of joy any longer, so he weeped. He weeped as Light tried to wipe the tears away. He weeped harder as he asked him what was wrong. And even harder when Light held him close, and the feeling the warmth spread throughout his body and pool in his stomach.
When Light asked if he was alright, all he could muster was smile. He was better than alright, so much better. Light’s frown was replaced with a grin as he saw the smile of his partner and continued to kiss his chest.
The washcloth had then returned to greet his pale skin and made its way down to his navel.
Light looked up at L knowingly, “Am I allowed to continue?” he tapped his hip. L nodded, then Light proceeded to cleanse him below his waist.
Light put the wash cloth away and removed the shower-head. Pushing all of L’s loose hair away from his face to the very back of his head, Light took this as an opportunity to place another kiss onto his now exposed forehead. Light heard a grumble from L, only to look down and see a flush that had spread across his face.
“Head back, please.” Light requested, and L surprisingly listened and let his head fall. The water ran through his scalp, sweeping away every bad thought with it, leaving a blank space for better ones to come. Lighter, he felt lighter.
The water had began to make its way down to his chest, then his back, then all over. He felt as if he was being bathed in tears of joy. L ponders when did he become so lovesick, thought about how abnormal such behavior was for him. Though he soon realized how absurd that question was. Light. That’s it, that’s the only answer. Everything about him. Every inch of him. Light. Only he could make him feel this way.
The shower head was returned to it’s home and just when L thought it was over, Light began to pepper his skin with kisses, from his back to his chest, to his stomach to his calves. No part of his body went untouched. Every part of his skin was given attention, infected with love, graced with love.
L hands quickly found its way to his face, he wouldn’t allow Light to see what he was doing to him. He wouldn’t allow himself to feed into his ego. But his attempt was unsuccessful.
Because even though his face couldn’t be seen, doesn’t mean that he could not be heard — and his whimpers did not go unnoticed by Light.
Light came up to meet L face to face and was met with two hands blocking the face of his partner. He gently removed his hands and was met with pale skin mixing with pink cheeks, and Light couldn’t help but chuckle.
“There’s no need to be embarrassed, Ryuzaki.”
“I am rarely embarrassed, Light-kun.” L grumbled.
Light couldn’t help but try and put that theory to the test. Placing one hand on his head, and the other around his waist, Light poured everything he had into the lips of the other. And god, did L feel it. Every single ounce of love and passion was being poured into him all at once, he was positive he was going to faint.
Their lips exchanged unspoken words of love. It wasn’t a battle of dominance, no. They were in perfect sync, lips tasting of passion. A type of togetherness.
Light had been the one to break the kiss, and he had been the one to prove L wrong, because the sheepish look on his face said otherwise.
L let out a quick cough and looked away. “I suppose I would only experience such bothersome feelings around you.”
Light chuckled and began to grab his washcloth. “Well, if you want, I can condition your hair and while we let it sit I can wash up as well. Or you can leave now, whatever you wanna do is completely fine with-“
“Wait.”
Light cocked an eyebrow and began to run his hand through L’s hair. “Hm?”
“Thank you, Light-kun.”
Light stopped. “For what?”
“For letting me experience the art of falling in love.”
