Summary:

“Today we continue our ongoing Investigating to answer the question: Are ghosts real?”

Next to him, Xingqiu shakes his head.

“By investigating another Haunted House. This is a house call from Childe or Tartaglia, a popular gaming youtuber. He recently moved into a new house and claims paranormal events have been occurring, such as items randomly falling off shelves and doors slamming by themselves.”

“Doors slam by themselves if there’s a window open, y’know, because of the wind. Maybe his shelves are crooked.”

Chongyun and Xingqiu explore Wangshu Inn in our ongoing investigation to answer the question, are ghosts real? In hopes of catching a young ghost named Dusky Ming that has been spotted around the area.

[Screen depicts the balcony area of Wangshu Inn in the dark. The camera turns to look down the stairs.]

"Hey, demons. It's ya boy, Zingkwee." Xingqiu glances around for a few moments before moving on. "No, that's not how you say my name by the way. I heard some people say it like that." He falls silent, thinking.

"Actually-I don't know if they watch our videos? It's Xingqiu. Like 'sing' and 'chew.' 'Singchew,' Xingqiu." He mouths his name a few times, mulling it over.

“Uhh, actually maybe it's something more like 'sing-chi-yo?' Uh, that sounds a little closer.” He says the pronunciation a few more times. "It has a very short 'chi-yo.' ... Well, I guess it would almost be sing-cho then-"

[A shout]

[Camera moves over the railing to record the end of the stairs. Chongyun is located at the bottom, in the kitchen.]

“Holy fuuuuuuck- I saw it! I fucking saw it!" Chongyun was dashing towards the stairs. He dashed up the stairs and stopped halfway, he fumbled around for something and pulled out a bottle of Holy Water and started spraying it down the stairs. "Fuck, fuck, fuck. Back, get away. Do not come near me." He runs up the rest of the stairs two at a time.

"Holy fuck. It definitely looked like a little girl; dress, pigtails-"

"Aww, maybe it wants to be friends with you. And you just sprayed her with Holy Water. That's not very nice."

"..."

Chongyun reaches for his Holy Water and sprays Xingqiu in the face.

[The camera shakes a little bit. The person holding it was laughing.]

[Camera shows a studio]

Childe records the entire room, opening a few drawers. “So this is the new studio. Been going great so far. Pretty nice. But uh, there’s definitely something…”

[Faint sound of something in the background]

[The screen blurs for a few moments before coming back into focus]

Childe was in a different room now, it's a kitchen. An island table sits to the side, a bowl of fruit is knocked over and a book is on the floor, its pages flipped open. “Again! Okay, I know I’m not going crazy. The book got knocked off the table."

He leans down and picks up the book, putting it back on the table before rearranging the fruit back into the bowl.

“I’m the only one here. This is so frustrating and freaky. Fuck. This has been happening so much.”

[There's a cut in the video. He's returned to the first room.]

“This is a nice house but I don’t know if I wanna stay here if-”

[Tapping sounds and a creak]

Childe: “Fuck."

Wallet™: Where’s Zhongli? Maybe you should make sure he didn’t bring back an animal again :D

Dropped The Tea: Maybe ask Chongyun Unsolved to help lol

Umbrella Hat: Lmao loser it's probably the wind

Twintwin: hmm did you buy something recently that could’ve been haunted? We all know you impulsively buy things for Zhongli all the time.

Behind The Door: Chongyun Unsolved works with stuff like this. Maybe think about organizing a collab with them?

Childe scrolled through some comments on his recent video. After a couple more times of items falling off their perches and hearing some sounds, he had ended his video early, to hide away in the bedroom until Zhongli returned, his back pressed against the wall.

After reading a few dozen of the same type of comments-all of them suggesting him to check out Chongyun Unsolved-he typed the name into the search bar and was met with a page full of ghost hunting videos.

Upon further research he found out that Chongyun Unsolved was a channel created by a boy named Chongyun to film evidence of ghosts. At first, it was a solo endeavor, but after a while he brought in a friend to help him. Said friend was a skeptic and so it had become Chongyun's new mission to prove to him that ghosts do exist.

He scrolled through a few of their videos before clicking on one.

[They are in a dark room with a flashlight on a rusty metal chair and a Pentagram drawn on the ground in front of it]

Chongyun and Xingqiu were both staring at the Pentagram in silence.

"Is this necessary?" Chongyun turned to Xingqiu, who was smiling at the Pentagram. "..."

"Are you going to lie on the Pentagram?"

[The screen zooms in on Xingqiu's still smiling face as he looks up at the camera]

[A cut in the video]

“I didn’t mean it like you should actually lie down on the Pentagram.” Chongyun looked horrified.

"Let's go!" Xingqiu is lying on his back on the Pentagram, in front of the chair. He spread his arms as he smiled at Chongyun. "I don't want to be here." Chongyun whispered, staring at the camera.

The lights were turned off so that the small room was drenched in darkness. Xingqiu's voice sounded from the pitch black.

"If there is something in here that wants to devour my heart, turn on the flashlight."

They waited a few moments, but the room stayed dark. "Oh? Nothing? Okay."

“Why do you have to say it like that.”

He ignored Chongyun, “If there is something in here that wants to devour my and Chongyun’s heart, turn on the flashlight.”

“What? No! Don’t drag me into your sick little game!”

Just as he said that, a light illuminated the room, the flashlight had turned on.

“Oh look! See? It just wanted the double deal.”

“What the fuck. No. Xingqiu please.”

Chongyun looked like he was one more turn of the flashlight from fainting.

After watching that and a few more videos, Childe decided that yes, he wanted these hooligans to come into his house and not prove his house is haunted. And he even told Zhongli as much when he got back.

So a month later he got in touch with Chongyun and Xingqiu, and they scheduled a suitable time.

Ghost Arsonist?

[Chongyun and Xingqiu are sitting next to each other behind a desk, various sheets of paper are strewn all over the surface. Behind them they have posters and more paper taped to the wall. On Xingqiu’s side of the room is a Pentagram, painted crudely onto a few separate sheets of paper.]

[They stare at each other]

[A cut in the video]

“We’re here in Childe’s residence, in the kitchen. Where he has claimed is where most of the activity has been taking place.” Chongyun turns to Childe who’s standing behind the table. “We’ve already gone over most of this, but is there anything else you want to say?”

Childe seems to be thinking for a few moments before remembering something. “Oh, I forgot. One time I was coming down to the kitchen in the middle of the night to get some water and I noticed the broom on fire in that corner.” He pointed to the far corner of the room.

“Oh, so this ghost has set something on fire? At least it did it near a window.”

[The camera turns slightly to show a window]

-

“If there is anything here in this house, show us a sign that you would like to talk to us. You can say something or move something. Don’t set anything on fire, preferably. While we’re here.”

“Punch me in the gut.” Xingqiu suggested. “Make sure I really feel it.”

-

“Okay, we’re gonna turn on this thing, it’s called a Spirit box. It’ll let you communicate with us.”

“Supposedly.”

Chongyun gave him a look.

“We don’t know how it works. Maybe the static messes with our head and makes us hear things.” Xingqiu stared dramatically at the camera. “These words and sentences we’re hearing. They’re not even there. What if this is all in our head; hunting ghosts, doing all this.”

“That's a disturbing thought.” Chongyun turned back to the spirit box, “I don’t want to think about that, let’s just do this and move on.”

-

“Boo!”

“... Did you hear that. It sounded like it said Boo. We haven’t even asked anything yet.”

“It did not say Boo- it did not sound like Boo. It was probably just a random syllable.”

“Who are we speaking with?”

“Hu tao.”

“Uh, why are you here?”

“Was here first.”

“What do you want?”

“Ehe~”

“... That sounded like a laugh.”

“That did not sound like a laugh.”

“No, that was a laugh.”

-

And so they decided to stay the night to catch any evidence of this ghost.

“We’re gonna sleep in the kitchen and hope nothing happens.”

“I’m hoping to wake up in the middle of the night to Chongyun screaming because the ghost decided to set the table on fire.” Xingqiu flopped down on his sleeping bag.

“Okay, the table is on fire. I’m screaming, what do you do?”

“I go ‘oh nice,’ and then I turn around and go back to sleep. Maybe the fire will consume my soul.”

They set up the camera on the floor a few feet away from where they were sleeping. Their cameraman (Albedo) had seemed fascinated at the idea of a ghost setting something on fire, and so they had let him sleep over with them.

Chongyun woke up in the middle of the night to hear the sound of footsteps along with the creaking of the stairs. He froze in place on the ground, straining his ears to listen closely. He glanced towards the stairwell and saw a shadowy figure on it.

“Holy fuck.” He whispered, elbowing Xingqiu awake, “There’s someone on the stairs.”

Xingqiu turned his head and paused. “What the fuck. That’s a person.”

And then many things happened all at once.

They started shouting and screaming, it was very loud and they could barely make out what was being said.

Chongyun thinks they might’ve said something along the lines of ‘Thief! burglar! don’t move I have holy water!’ And Chongyun distinctly remembers saying something like, ‘don’t kill me, Xingqiu is the better option,’ but he can’t remember and who really needs to know anyway?

They jumped out of their sleeping bags, Xingqiu ran for the lights, Chongyun tried to find the flashlights, and Albedo calmly got up and picked up the camera sitting on the ground and turned to film this potential murderer like all was right with the world.

Xingqiu flicked on the lights, and they all stared at the person standing at the stairs. He seemed a little startled at everything and blinked at them.

He had long brown hair with golden tips and bright amber eyes, and he was looking at them with the most confused look on his face. He was dressed casually and not like he was walking into this house to rob or murder someone.

[Camera zooms in]

“Who are you?” He said slowly.

They blinked at him. “Who are you?” They parroted back.

Now everyone was confused (maybe not Albedo, the man looked like he wanted to go back to sleep).

Suddenly the lights upstairs flicked on and Childe appeared at the top of the stairs. “I heard you screaming and then I realized I never told you guys I had a roommate.”

His eyes were wide as he stared at them; Xingqiu still had his hand on the light switch, Chongyun was holding a flashlight pointed towards the man on the stairs like it was a knife, and Albedo was just standing there.

-

“I put a glass of water on the counter in case Hu Tao gets thirsty.”

They all stared at him.

“You knew?”

“Hmm, when we bought this house, I remember being told it was speculated that a girl named Hu Tao was buried under the house.”

"What." Childe paled.

-

The island table was on fire.

They cleared up the misunderstanding and went to sleep, only to be awoken once again by Chongyun screaming.

“Oh nice. The ghost heard me.” Xingqiu was smiling at the table on fire like it was a long-lost friend.

[Albedo keeps filming the fire]

Chongyun ran around looking for the fire extinguisher before finding it by the stairs. He grabbed it and dashed to the table before putting the fire out. He stared at the table for a good few seconds. “My hands are shaking.”

-

“You think a table catching on fire in the middle of the night is normal?”

“I’m saying it might not be a ghost.”

“Why?”

“Maybe Albedo sleepwalks, and he did it in his sleep.”

[A faint voice] “I don't sleepwalk.”

Chongyun turned to give Xingqiu a look.

“Maybe something was on the table that caught on fire. There was probably a lighter and napkins on it. It probably went off or something. I don’t know, weird things happen all the time, but they’re not ghosts.”

Chongyun stares at the camera.

-

“Is Childe’s residence really haunted? I believe so. But without solid proof;

It will remain Unsolved.”

-

“Zhongli, do you think your house is haunted?” Chongyun asked the next morning.

“Hmm. Probably.” He said setting down another glass of water on the counter and lighting some incense.

Comments:

Under your bed: Poor Childe :(((

She’s here: Lmaooo when they thought Zhongli was breaking in!!

Notes:

-Bonus-

They heard crying and walked into the kitchen to find Childe on his knees in front of a cup on the ground.

Inside the cup a small fire was burning.

Zhongli speed walked over and pulled out a spray bottle. He sprayed the area around the cup.

“I told you, Childe’s sensitive >:(“

He knelt down and hugged Childe.

“It was my favorite cup.” He sobbed.

Zhongli glared at the wall over the cup and sprayed a few more times. “Apologize.”

The fire died out.

Chongyun blinked. “And you say this house isn’t haunted.”

“...”
