Summary
Megumi is a shadow at his side, silent and unknowable. To his right a father, in his 50’s with a sunburn already, checks his tween son and wife into the hotel with a brash self assurance. Satoru doesn’t feel so familial at this family resort. He wonders if he turned with the demand for organised fun, hands on his hips and baseball cap cutting a red line across his forehead, and told Megumi they were off to mini golf, if he would respond at all.
He wouldn’t. He’s become increasingly unreadable, although even as a boy he was crabbed.
Now they don’t live together, now he is no-longer in middle school, things feel fractious. Maybe because their relationship feels twisted now, though in a way they were always teacher and student. They were never explicitly family. Maybe Megumi has just lost too much now, to indulge Satoru’s need for companionship.

Summary
Even while on sabbatical, Albedo does not abandon the pursuit of knowledge. There is the theoretical problem of balancing leisure with responsibility, followed by a foray into experimental performance. Then an opportunity to use these newfound skills in a collaborative setting.
It will look good on his curriculum vitae - as long as nobody bothers to inquire about the details of his training.
