Summary
He stared at its face, staring down at the ground. Jayce tilted his head… it kinda felt familiar. The statue had its arms and hands reached out, like it was giving something away. One of its hands was missing two fingers. The way Jayce stood now between it looked like the statue was reaching its arms out to him, about to embrace the child that did not know who he was.
Round gold eyes were the first thing Jayce saw, framed by rich brown waves. The other boy was pale with two moles on his face, one under his eye and above his mouth. He was sitting up on his elbows moving further away, wearing patched clothes with some purple stripes on parchment white, brown and olive green. Then he spoke, angry and accented.
“Who are you?” The boy asked like an accusation. Those warm golden eyes glared at him with something like fear, and he gasped when he looked up, seeing the strange place they were in. “Where — Where am I?”
Jayce also sat up, and he couldn’t help but feel amazed. Did Mister Statue hear him call for help? “I — I don’t know. Who are you?”

Summary
After the Hexgates were a major success and with the council agreeing to expand their funding greatly, Jayce and Viktor decided to experiment on some anomalies that occurred during the testing stage of the Hexgate prototype. They called it the "Hexport"; a portal that seemed to only manifest through certain runes. Things that enter it come out differently than they were before, so, of course, the interest of two brilliant young scientists was roused.
But it was only a matter of time before things went wrong and Jayce experienced an adventure he never asked for.
OR
Local scientists discover their parallel-universe-divorce-era and found themselves between fixing a portal and fixing the relationship of two sworn enemies.

No story that starts with an overpass and a bottle of vodka ends well.
Here’s how it goes: boy is lonely. Alcohol and overpass cliche. Boy meets boy. Boy loves boy. Boy does not say a word about it. Happy montage. Slice of life montage. Sad montage. Boy and boy grow further apart. Boy leaves boy. Boy does not get over it. Alcohol and overpass cliche returneth. Boy is lonely.
Sisyphean indeed.

Disillusioned, depressed and drunk, Viktor forgoes throwing himself off an overpass and takes the only marginally better route of texting his long-estranged best friend instead.
