“Well, we have taken steps to keep your performance up and to keep your Alpha instincts in check.” Helmut stated and Max feels the already frigid air get even more tense.
“I do not need ‘steps' to help me out. I have heard your criticisms and I will take that onboard into this weekend.” Max prays that Christian will give in and convince Helmut but the silence that follows suggests otherwise.
“You do not get to decide that, we want to win championships and recently your performance has been dropping,” Max wants to scream out that the car is shit and compared to Checo he is doing amazingly but Helmut might throttle him if he does that, “so we have decided to get you a service omega who will be with you to support you and keep those instincts in check.” Max frowns and then his frown deepens as he processes those words.

They had gone through a period at the start of their relationship when it was a bit odd like this but Max hadn’t even realised that Charles was trying to court him. But that can’t really apply to everything now. They really didn’t have any problems as a couple and so Charles really was baffled.

"Do you know him?" Sebastian asked.
"No, I've never met him before. It's just...seeing him and his pup, it's heartbreaking. He must have been so scared and alone. I can't even imagine," Max admitted. "He looks around my age, Seb. He shouldn't have had to go through that."
Sebastian nodded in agreement. "You're right, no one should ever have to go through what this boy has gone through but that's why we do this. We can't change the past, but we can help make the future better. And that's what we will do."
Max nodded, his eyes still fixed on the clinic.
"Go home, Max. Take a break. You have done enough for now. Let me handle it," Sebastian assured him.
Max reluctantly nodded. "Okay, call me if anything happens,"
"Of course. Rest well,"
Max drove home, his thoughts swirling. He wasn't sure why, but he felt connected to the Omega. Maybe it was the fact that they were the same age, or maybe it was his concern for the baby, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to help him.

A little while later, Charles whispered, "My soulmate's an amazing artist."
Max almost choked in surprise. He turned to Charles again and Charles was leaning back in his chair, squinting into the telescope, which was pointed right up above him.
"Yeah?" Max managed to say.
Charles put down the telescope and nodded. "I used to get these really nice flowers on my skin. And really beautiful, intricate patterns. I loved them. I took them as little gifts from my soulmate to me."
"That's nice," Max smiled. He hadn't imagined it would make him so happy that Charles liked his little skin drawings.
"They've stopped, though." Charles absentmindedly ran his fingers over his arm. "I don't know why. Maybe they got busy. I hope they're fine."
