Summary
She watches with sullen eyes as the parents sob. That – not an uncommon sight.
But a very uncommon sight? Cassie McKay pulling her gloves off, her teeth digging hard into her bottom lip, and tossing them into a disposal bin, shoving past the parents without even a second glance.
---
The death of a patient sets off a string of events, ricocheting two women together and then apart. Victoria Javadi was just trying to be kind in her offer to go to the plant store, and Cassie McKay couldn't say no with that face staring back at her.

Summary
“Holy shit, you’d fuck your mentor?” Trinity guffaws, crashing Victoria’s train of thought.
So stupid.
“What–no, no,” she replies a little too quickly, causing Trinity and Dennis to share a look. She gives them both a quick shared glare, rolling her eyes.
“No,” she says, slowly and firmly before pursing her lips, hoping she convinces the two, (and herself too), “you asked me to pick.”
Of course, Santos and Whitaker are not fooled. Hell, not even Javadi herself is either. She can feel the warmth in her cheeks, burning beneath her skin.
“I didn’t think you’d pick your mentor you’re practically glued stuck to,” Trinity has to bite back another laugh, a choice she made from Dennis’ foot kicking hers as a warning.
“It’s a game! You told me to pick!”
“Never asked you to pick your mentor, Crash.”
or: Victoria and Cassie are in love but simply too stubborn to admit it and everyone else (read: mostly Trinity, really) sees it but them.
