Instead, he just gets back up.

Summary
Will Byers had the same soulmark for the first fifteen years of his life. The vast majority of people aren’t even born with a soulmark--not even Will was, his soulmark apparently showed up once he was a few weeks old. On the rare occasion someone was born with a soulmark, they usually end up going through several soulmarks by the time they meet their soulmate. The fact that Will had the same pink Venus symbol over his heart for almost his whole life means that he and his soulmate have been within forty miles of each other for fourteen years.
Ie a byler soulmate au where you have a soulmark if you're within 40 miles (64.6 km (sorry that's a gross number)) of each other.

Summary
“I’m tired.” Mike muttered, lying back down against Will’s bedsheets. He smoothed out the front of his hoodie, wincing slightly as his fingers brushed his aching ribs. Motherfucking binder.
Will shifted next to Mike. Will was close. Like really close. Mike turned his head to the side, surprised to see Will already staring at him.
Mike swallowed thickly. Will was looking at him with those eyes- and- oh Jesus, he was too pretty. “Hi.” Mike whispered, like the idiot he was.
“Hey,” Will smiled, bringing a hand up between them to brush a strand of hair from Mike’s face. Mike froze, shivering. His heart thudded in his chest, seconds away from exploding.
“Do you. Uh-” Mike started, then stopped. Will was drifting closer. They lapsed into an electric silence, Mike forgetting about his aching ribs or the fact that Will’s family was right down the hall. Fuck that.

He tried to keep his breathing under control, looked back to his reflection, watching his adam's apple bob as he swallowed thickly. His eye sockets were hollow, his body sore, a pretty fucking sure sign that he wasn’t consuming enough fuel. But we fucking know that already, don’t we?
Just because he hadn’t fucked up his goddamn skin in two weeks didn’t mean he could just pick up eating normally again. It wasn’t that fucking easy. No matter how much he wanted to be able to eat like a normal human being.
Will’s legs shook, and he felt the joints in his fingers tensed up like they did when he was about to have a panic attack. Or when he was really mad. He didn’t know which it was, but what he did know was that he had a date with his boyfriend, Mike, in less than an hour and didn’t have time for panicking.

"Huh?" Mike sniffs.

At ten everyone is supposed to get their soul mark, printed into their skin and guiding them to their true love. And so on March 22, Will Byers, who is a fool in many ways but not when it comes to his own heart, he knows exactly who he wants his soul mate to be.
The only problem, Will's supposed soulmate doesn't get any mark at all.
