“A God, huh?” he repeated, without any intention of mocking him. “That’s a pretty big responsibility.”
“Not for you.”
“You have that much faith in me?”
“It’s not faith.”
“Then what is it?”
“Recognition.”
“What an elegant word.”
“It’s the correct one.”
“Of course you'd say that. And what exactly are you supposed to do with a God, Vivian?” Hugo didn't answer immediately. He gave his response more thought.
“Offer him absolute devotion, obedience, self-denial, submission, and consecration.”
“Obedience.”
“Mhm.”
“Do you want to obey me, Vivian?”
