“Oh, Dan…” Phil sighed empathetically, already kicking off his shoes and crossing the room.
“No, I- I haven’t showered,” Dan stammered weakly, shaking his head and desperately attempting to mask the instability in his voice.
“Or brushed my teeth. I’m- I’m so gross right now Phil, please, I-”
Anything to make Phil leave. To spare him this. To give him an out.
“I don’t care,” Phil shrugged like he couldn’t care less as he approached the bed, leaving no room for arguments.
Worthless. He was worthless.
OR it’s 2009, Dan is deep in the trenches and trying his absolute hardest to spiral alone, but his safely-undefined-more-than-just-a-best-friend Phil refuses to let him pull away long enough to disappear into himself.

Summary
2009 Dan and Phil already share everything: beds, clothes, showers, kisses, comfort, bodies, softness, secrets, and a particular quiet devotion they’ve left unaddressed and unlabelled.
But all it takes is one particularly devastating spiral for Dan to reach his breaking point and all the demons he’s spent years repressing finally start to claw their way to the surface.
What once came as comfort now turns to chaos as the fragile ambiguity they’ve carefully maintained between friendship and something more begins to crumble at its foundation.
OR an angst and fluff-filled hurt/comfort series following the day Dan and Phil said their first “i love you”s and finally became official.
