Summary
This story is based on a fairytale I first read as a kid - The Scarlet Flower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scarlet_Flower). When I heard it again a while ago, it gave me so strong Lucifer vibes that the plot demons couldn't let it go anymore. So the fairytale turned into a Lucifer fic. Of course I had to adjust some things to fit in this universe, but I kept most key points of that fairytale.

Summary
Detective Chloe Decker of the LAPD sometimes thought her middle name should be ‘long-suffering’ instead of Jane. From the relentless teasing she’d gotten at the Academy for being the ‘hot tub hottie’ from Hot Tub High School to the frozen silence she’d endured in the wake of her dissent from the consensus that surrounded the ‘Palmetto Affair’ she’d endured almost more than she could bear.
So she’d erected the shield of a ‘hard-nosed homicide cop.’ It was a shield, but it was also an act, a carefully constructed act based on her observations of some of the longest serving detectives in the Parker Center. And if her act was based on their act, well, she hoped no one had the wit to detect it. Though that made her wonder about what was behind the shields of her colleagues and their purported close rates.
But all that was just background noise. No, the real test… the newest test… was the civilian consultant she’d been saddled with by Lieutenant Olivia Monroe.
Chloe Decker was waiting for a new assignment... it just wasn't what she expected.

Summary
When someone is killed at an exclusive resort for married couples, Chloe and Lucifer go undercover to solve the case—but he has a condition. It would simply be untruthful to pretend to be married, and Lucifer can't have that. So of course, the natural solution is to not pretend. Temporarily.
Chloe agrees despite her better judgment. There's a murder to solve, after all, and she doesn't let anything get in the way of doing her job.
It's time for their real-fake honeymoon, where they definitely won't actually fall in love. No way. Not happening.
