Summary
The woman scoffs at him, and Steve realizes he probably seems a bit odd—all 5’4” of his childish stature but a face that betrays his twenty years, buying superhero comics and a toy car. Steve is usually annoyed to be reminded of his lackluster appearance, but this time he finds it almost amusing. He pays, spending only a little more than he had hoped, and steps out of the brownstone into the afternoon sun.
The heat hangs heavy in the air, but nothing can put a damper on Steve’s mood. He’s already imagining the way Bucky’s face is going to light up when he sees the newspaper. The corners of Bucky’s eyes will crinkle to match the edges of the paper, and then warmth will fill those blue-grey eyes of his as he looks over at Steve. Bucky will carefully set the paper aside before giving Steve a hug, and will probably frame it later. Steve's heart skips a beat at the thought.

Summary
Steve is careful to keep the space between them as he tries his best to lead. This isn’t weird. Bucky’s just teaching him so he can dance with a girl someday. Steve's breath hitches when he meets the full intensity of Bucky’s gaze. A tingle shoots down his spine as Bucky's eyes drop to Steve's lips for a fraction of a second.

Summary
Bucky might be in love with Steve. He knows better than to show it, but that doesn't stop him from pining after his best friend every chance he gets. At some point, he thinks that maybe Steve feels the same way. The tension is unbearable. It only takes one moment of joyful recklessness for Bucky to show his hand.
A series of oneshots throughout Bucky and Steve's life in Brooklyn, followed by one from Steve's perspective.

Bucky doesn't know why Steve is acting so strangely. He tries to mend things between them, but everything so far has been unsuccessful. Steve has shut him out for reasons he can't understand, and Bucky hates being on the outside of Steve's life, watching him slip away. Even if friendship is all that's in the cards for them, Bucky will put aside his feelings and make things right. He can manage that, right?

It was the sweetest kind of torture, having Bucky so close to him but knowing that in the morning it would all be over. It was made entirely better and worse when they got into the apartment and Bucky locked his arms around Steve's waist, letting his head fall onto his chest and murmuring something he couldn't quite catch.
Steve put his arms around Bucky as well, convincing himself that it was because he was worried his friend would fall and not because it broke his heart to deny him any affection.
"What was that, Buck?"
He couldn't help but smile as Bucky met his eyes, looking like he might fall asleep right then and there.
"You're my favourite, Stevie. My best guy in the world."
OR: Steve and Bucky are roomates, and Steve is hopelessly in love. Bucky drunk kisses him after a wedding, but that doesn't mean anything. (or does it???)

“We should fuck.”
“Whaat?” The word comes bubbling out of Steve, buoyed by his laughter.
“Why not?” Bucky says, eyes and mouth both smiling. They’re both a little boozy, just getting back to Steve’s from a Met’s game, and flipping through their phones, trying to decide on food.
“I don’t…Buck!” Steve’s flustered. Of course he’s thought about it, of course. Bucky’s gorgeous, dark hair and pretty eyes, his body long and lithe from years of dance. Steve’s not blind: of course he’s noticed Bucky.
But they’re best friends. Adding something like sex to their relationship would be like playing with fire.
Wouldn’t it?
