Summary
And the taste, god, the taste, was the worst part. Buck tried to wipe the blood—Eddie’s blood—from his mouth, but to no avail. It stuck to him, imprinted on his lips, tangy and coppery on his tongue.
He hated it.
He hated that it was the only part of Eddie he had tasted. It was the only thing he could taste as he watched Eddie’s heart stop. Even if it was for a split second, it sent Buck into a daze, narrowing his focus on that one monitor, willing it to start back up.
He could still taste its phantom kiss now, the remnants of his last nightmare clinging to his mind and pushing his senses to overdrive. Buck sat up on the couch, letting the blanket bunch as he rubbed a hand down over his face.
The only thing of Eddie’s that Buck had tasted was his blood. Eddie changes that.
