Occtis looked gross. His cheeks were more sunken in, his skin paler, eyes a sickening green that glowed faintly. Despite everything, he wasn't even sure it was still him.

Summary
His students are probably now the same age as Grace was when he left. That is, if Stratt and the others were able to fight the astrophage with the taumeoba and such. If not they'd have been long dead by now.
A long, slow, painful death of cold and of starvation.
Not unlike what Grace was experiencing now.

Summary
[Spoilers for C4E31.]
“You embarrassed me,” Occtis hisses. “You embarrassed me today.”
The boy is standing over the bed, gaze fixed on the mattress, seeing nothing as his clever mind fixates on some unknown fact of Julien’s prior conduct.
Julien tries to play the day’s hectic events back through his mind, but their flight from Dol-Makjar was a fearful one plagued by paranoia, so much so that he finds his recall hampered. He’s sure he was an asshole to everyone all day, but he doesn’t remember aiming it at Occtis, at least not on purpose.
Waiting for Occtis to volunteer information tends to involve more patience than Julien has handy, so he’d might as well ask. “When did I embarrass you?”
Occtis still doesn’t look at him. “You picked me up like a sack of grain in front of all of our colleagues.”
Of all the things to have a fight about right now, Julien feels like this isn’t the one he’d personally pick, and a stupid part of him wants to say so. An even stupider part of him wants to point out that that was last night, not today.
He manages to hold his tongue on these two points, but he can’t keep his ire from his tone. “What did you expect me to do? Leave you behind?”

Summary
Coming off of the worst summer possibly had by anybody who's ever been alive ever, Occtis hopes that finally enrolling in college with his best friend will give him the fresh start he's been dreaming about.
Unfortunately for him, he gets tricked into swapping dorms and ends up with an entirely different slew of problems in the form of a heartbroken, vindictive senior who won't shut up about sports.
But anywhere is better than back home, and Occtis can probably deal with this while still keeping his ideal college life and integrity intact.
... probably

Summary
“Fuck,” Julien spits out, and there’s something raw in his expression, something Occtis hasn’t seen since he knocked on Julien’s door that first night in the Schneffenkeep. “I thought you were dying. I thought Thimble and Teor and Cyd were all lost and then you started fucking dying in front of me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want you to be—” his voice raises before he cuts himself off to take another breath. “I told you before that wherever you go, I will follow. I would rather not follow you into death at your family’s hands.”

Summary
Grace debates on killing himself in the airlock.
‘He’d shiver, hugging his quilt closer as he sat cross legged with his back to Mary, staring out at the stars. They were beautiful- he’s glad he was able to save them.Ilyukhina’s heroin was on one side of him, Yao’s gun on the other. Two choices, three, if you count him opening the airlock. Four if you count starvation. But he knows Simon wouldn’t let it get to that.’

Summary
Rocky and Grace are back aboard the Hail Mary for the first-ever mission in the Star Angel Program launched by the Eridians to help save nearby star systems that are likley to support other intelligent life.
All is going well until their new-and-improved astral sensing technology picks up a strange radio signal from a nearby moon.
OR
The moon itself was fairly large, clearly the largest in Epsilon Eridani b’s orbit, and the magnetosphere of the gas giant could potentially stabilize a body of water like that to some extent, but there would have to be an immense atmospheric pressure on the moon for an ocean, because that’s what it was, to exist.
Once in stable orbit, Grace was able to see the ocean itself through the hull cameras of the Hail Mary.
“That’s very strange," He remarked.
“Not very. Look at mountain ridges. Moon mountains release gas. Enough atmospheric pressure for ocean,” countered Rocky.
“It’s not that,” began Grace, “It’s red.”
