“You still haven’t wished me a happy birthday.”
Diluc blinks at her, taken aback.
“I haven’t,” he admits. Even when standing up, she’s barely any taller than him sitting down—just enough to stand at eye level with him. He doesn’t know why he notices. “My apologies. Happy birthday.”
Fischl laughs again. It’s a little less strained, this time around, though still kind of wobbly. Her body reverberates alongside it, a bit unstable in her drunkenness, and as her eyes crinkle, he’s suddenly overcome with the need to put some distance in front of him.
“I should be allowed to make a wish, no?” she says, once again her gaze staring right through him.
Diluc sits, still, as if anything’s stopping him from standing up and guiding Fischl to the door.
“I suppose so,” he says instead, hesitant.
That distance he was longing for disappears in favor of an unfamiliar alcoholic scent mixing with his own breath. Diluc’s gaze widens, his entire body taken aback.
Diluc’s plans to go straight home after closing down the tavern for the day end up turned upside down by a certain adventurer.
