The long table stretches dauntingly down the dining room. Each seat is filled, and only some hold familiar faces; the liquid confidence wears off just a bit as he stares them down.
No more Gorou. Tonight, you are princess Minamoto Hinata, of Inazuma.
He offers them a weak smile as they stand, bowing to him.
His eyes scan over the people staring him down. He spots the Kamisato siblings, who both wave at him encouragingly. Yoimiya, the town’s firework maker, grins at him enthusiastically. A few other Inazuman nobles and higher-up businessmen greet him with eyes both kind and cold, looking him up and down like he’s a fresh piece of meat.

Gorou starts his first year of university in a new town fully expecting for his daily routine to consist of class, archery club, and his part-time job at a local pottery painting workshop. Maybe he'd be able to squeeze in some light reading and a few movie nights with his favourite twins, not much else.
And then he meets none other than Itto.

“The best part is,” Aether says, like he’s conspiring a great plan to assassinate a political leader and not discussing something as inane as a weekend hangout between friends, “at the end of it all, they’re going stargazing. Stargazing, Lumine.”
“Woah,” Lumine breathes out, eyes wide. “That’s a hell of a first date.”
“I-it’s not a date!” Gorou defends, sitting up ramrod straight. “It’s—we’re just hanging out! He never mentioned a date or anything like that. We’re just, um. Bros.”
“Uh huh. Tell me, Lumine, have you ever gone stargazing with any of your bros?”
“Can’t say I have, Aether.”
They’re just friends. It’s a bro hangout. And if it is more, then that’ll be… fine. Good, even. But he has no expectations.
