When Dream was initially considering retirement to a life in the Waking, he’d run into several hang-ups. Aside from all of the dull, uncomfortable and disgusting things that accompany being human, Dream had a difficult time imaging a life barred from his original function. Though, at least he had known what to expect in that regard.
What he had not expected, however, was to be thrust into the hellish world of human mating cycles immediately upon giving up his post.

The version of Dream known as Morpheus dies, and is replaced by Daniel. As Daniel rebuilds the dreaming, remnants of the past linger around, and are discovered by the Corinthian - who is as disturbed by them as he is drawn to them.
But these remnants are not Morpheus... no matter how similar they might look.
