“How long.” It was supposed to be a question but his tone of voice wasn’t quite right. The words were breathy, and they sounded more like a heavy sigh than a question.
She reached out a hand and rubbed at the top of Kakyoin’s head. It was weird but comforting.
“You’ve been in a coma for about twelve years, dear.”
Kakyoin’s mind felt blank. He wasn’t sure what he was thinking.
“Oh.”

Alternatively, after about twelve years, Kakyoin finally awakes from a coma. Unfortunately for him, his old friends believe him to be dead, and they're rather difficult to find.
