Summary
Vi looks at the big clock on the far wall. 7:46AM. She’s one minute late today. Every morning for the past six months - well, every morning Vi’s been on shift, so she’s just assuming about the other days - she’s passed by at exactly 7:45AM, always at a brisk walk, always in a perfectly-tailored suit, not a single long, silky-looking hair out of place.
7:47AM. The crisp clack of heeled boots on concrete pulls Vi out of her musings. There must have been some sort of emergency, because the subject of Vi’s (minor) obsession walks past the fire station at a faster clip than normal. Which is sort of saying something, because Mystery Woman’s got legs for days, long and slender, visibly toned with long, lean muscle through her suit pants. At the faster clip, Vi has less time to admire her ass and tiny, tiny waist as she walks by, but that’s fine, because the view as she leaves is fantastic.

Caitlyn's route to work as a detective at the 51st Precinct takes her right by Fire Station #516, and Vi's been pining after the gorgeous Mystery Woman for six months...what will happen when she finds out that Caitlyn's a cop (AKA: The Enemy)?

Summary
“What’re you looking at?” Vi asks, her eyes crinkling in amusement.
Shit. Caitlyn really is fucked.
“I… nothing,” she murmurs, blushing.
“Really?” Vi arches an eyebrow. “Kinda looked like something.”
Caitlyn curses herself for being so weak and, well… gay. There’s simply no way she has the willpower to resist that stupid fucking smirk.
/ In which Caitlyn's been set up on a blind date. So has Vi. And nothing goes according to plan.

Summary
“I wish you could’ve seen it,” she whispers, “Any of it.”
Seven progress days- seven years. Vi wouldn’t care about missing some Piltie parties, but everything else? The food, the laughter, the sun, the moon, the air?
Vi’s beautiful face softens- it’s incredible, how emotion molds her features, how quickly she droops with empathy, how gently she takes Caitlyn’s stagnant hand to kiss, a peck to each knuckle, reverent.
“I’m here now,” she murmurs, eyes crinkling with a grin on the thin edge of playful, “Just sucks they can’t put your face up there anymore.”
“Oh, stop,” Caitlyn’s face goes hot, “I’d never escape the horror.”
Caitlyn and Vi attend the first Progress Day since the war.

Summary
“Would you… would you like to rest, in another room?”
“You don’t think I’d get lost trying to find it?” Vi asks, which tells Caitlyn nothing.
She shrugs. “I could lead you to another, or have one of our staff guide—”
“Still wouldn’t want to take chances,” says Vi, but her posture’s changed. Defensive but not quite defiant—like she’s trying to keep hold of something she doesn’t have full control over.
Caitlyn ventures, leaning against the wooden bedpost, “This bed is big enough for two.”

Summary
Foreign, non self cells had entered the body. The immune system didn’t know exactly what type or where they came from but it knew what it needed to do. It commanded the leukocytes into action, the neutrophils attached to the walls of blood vessels, the monocytes matured into macrophages, and the lymphocytes sent out antibodies and antitoxins. The immune system had to find the pathogens so that it could determine what the next step was, if the memory cells recognized the antigens it would be easy to destroy them, if they didn’t it would take a lot longer and be a lot harder.
Neutrophils were sent out in large numbers, scouring the body for signs of pathogens.
