Summary
“But like… no offence to the guy, but Max?” Lando seems incredulous. “I know he has glowed up a bit but he’s still… you know, Max.”
Everyone gives Daniel the same inquisitive expression. Even Charles is curious, leaning forward, far too invested in this dumb game all of a sudden.
Daniel seems nonchalant, shrugging.
“He’s got those DSLs, you know. Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed.”
“I-” Lando starts and then stops himself. Oscar snorts. Alex giggles. Lando frowns, then mirrors Daniel’s shrug. “I guess.”
“What is a DSL?” Charles asks, pouting a little. Everyone looks at him and he feels left out.
Daniel’s mouth stretches into this sharp, dangerous smirk.

Summary
“Lando won.”
Charles’ breath hitches, an uncomfortable knot appearing suddenly in his throat. He didn’t see the celebrations, but he can picture them because they’re what he’d do, he thinks about it all the time, the way he’d be unable to stop smiling and how he’d probably cry and how his family would hold him and his team would sing for him—
“I know.”
Max’s face pulls down, and then the expression is gone.
“You’ve been spiralling about it for months,” Max says. His voice is oddly soft. “Every time we see each other, you are ranting about how unfair it is, that they don’t deserve that car. And now you have nothing to say?”
He hasn’t been spiralling. That’s ridiculous.
“It is what it is.”

Summary
After the accident, Charles only has one goal: get back in the car and restore Ferrari’s glory. Everything else—feelings, people, and especially vacations—is just a distraction. So when Fred ships him off to a remote island for some “mandatory relaxation time,” Charles is ready to hate every second of it.
Especially when he meets him.
With ocean-blue eyes, a laugh that lingers, and a smirk that gets on every last one of his nerves, Charles’ local guide is a walking complication. He’s sunshine, infuriatingly persistent, and far too easy on the eyes.
Charles came to the island to heal his body, not lose focus. But sometimes, the road to recovery leads you somewhere you don't expect.
Or, Max is a sex worker and thinks his stuck up guest needs to learn to relax.

Summary
In 2015, when Max first joined F1 as a fresh-faced rookie, the pack shut him out because of the wrongness and temperament that existed on him like a second skin. In 2025, Max has mellowed out and the pack, specifically the rookies, begin coming to him. Whether they are tired, angry, hurting, or unsure, Max never says no. He doesn’t weigh the risks of involving himself with a pack that doesn't claim him; he only registers that someone needs something, and that he knows how to give.
Layered on that, Max has a secret that the pack doesn’t know nor understand but they begin to circle it. It lives in the way he goes still when certain voices drop, in how his eyes glaze when someone gets too close, in how he never asks for anything and how every so often he'll disappear and return as a ghost.
OR: The 2025 rookies get attached to Max very quickly, pulling him into grid pack dynamics. Unfortunately, Max was cut from the pack in 2015 by Lewis and he still doesn't accept him. Now that Max is getting closer again, the grid is starting to notice something is very wrong with him.
