Angel presses on. "Do you want to die?"
Of course he wants to die.
He wants to die just as much as he wants to live. Just as he is now devil and human, just as Angel is both beautiful and monstrous. Aki swallows the smoke and it kills him a little, just as it makes life a little more liveable in return. That's how it's been for most of his life.
"That's not what this is about," he says simply, unable to explain it.
Alive, Aki has survived by selling away his heart. Alive, Angel's memories have come back along with guilt. They find solace and understanding in the only person who sees them for what they are.

“Why? Are you scared it’ll run away?" Angel rolls his eyes but goes and turns to face the voice. Oh shit. Maybe, he shouldn't have been that reluctant because whoever this is is handsome. He has nice skin, kind eyes, his hair looks well maintained alongside his lean and tall figure.
“Perhaps,” the man says, as he’s already fetching the cartoon of cigarettes out of his pocket, “or maybe, I'm hoping you wouldn't steal it.”
Or, It shouldn't make Angel fluster that some cute guy is his neighbour.

“So…you’re my new partner. Angel, right?” Aki queried, trying to make small talk.
“Yeah.”
“Well, have you ever worked at a law firm before?”
“No.”
“Oh. Okay.”
Angel might’ve looked pretty, but he sure as hell didn’t act pretty. Aki composed himself and told himself to not punch Angel in the face. He sat down and began sorting through case files and organized them by date and relevance.
