Summary
It’s been two months since Stede has returned to the Revenge, and he and Ed have not yet had sex. This is fine. He’d be content just to stay by Ed’s side forever in a perfectly platonic fashion, if that’s what Ed wanted. Ed had made it abundantly clear that he does not desire a platonic relationship, though.
The real issue, Stede thinks, is that whenever it seems like it’s happening, something goes wrong.

Summary
Ed casually laid around on the couch in Stede's quarters during the series; what if he'd slept there? Practically alone, in the captain's quarters, coming off a night of jubilation involving raucous laughter and several swigs of drink too many, with nothing but his racing thoughts and steady hand to comfort him as he heard whimpers of his name carry over the couch from Stede's welcoming bed. What if?
[and, just saying, we technically don't know that he didn't sleep on his couch. in fact, i choose to believe that is canon until proven otherwise]
