“Fuck!”
It was the second time that week Sunghoon had opened the chat with the 24-hour assistance bot from his car insurance. Well, at least he had insurance. It could be much worse! In fact, life had been proving exactly that to him. Things could always get worse.
“You know… it could be—”
“No. Don’t even think about it.”
He cut himself off. He had already learned that every time a ‘things could be worse’ was spoken out loud, God or the universe didn’t see it as optimism but as a challenge. Of course, it could always be worse! He could be stuck in a supermarket parking lot at 11:47 PM on a weekday after spending two hours in the checkout line (twice the time he spent actually shopping), only to load his groceries into the trunk and realize he wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon because his old junk of a car had broken down! Oh, wait. Yeah. That’s exactly what was happening.
