Suddenly, she could feel something tapping her forehead. Looking up, she found a black, smoke-like creature, somewhat resembling an owl, looking at her with wide, white eyes. The non-owl seemed to almost grin at her. though it didn’t have a visible mouth.
The girl raised her hand and tried to touch the owl. Her hand couldn’t touch her, but she did feel a cold temperature from the non-owl’s immaterial body.
“What are you?”, the girl asked.
“I’m your biggest fear and your biggest friend.”
