Belly closed her eyes, feeling the humiliation wash over her again. "I sent Conrad a love letter on the back of his anniversary invitation."
"On purpose?" Taylor's voice still hadn't quite gone down in pitch.
"No, of course it wasn't on purpose," she snapped.
"Okay. Good," Taylor said slowly. "Otherwise I would've thought you'd lost your mind."
"That's the thing," Belly sighed. "I think I am."
Or: in the lead-up to hers and Jeremiah's ten-year wedding anniversary, Belly accidentally sends a love letter to Conrad. It's the final nail in the coffin of a marriage that's been dead for quite some time.

“Conrad is here,” The only sound was the blinker as Steven navigated toward their next exit, “Say something.”
“Here where?” Her heart was sputtering into her throat, “What do you mean?”
The last time she had seen or spoken to Conrad Fisher was the morning of her wedding. Her almost wedding. It had been a goodbye.
She had avoided the east coast for the most part since then. She had avoided him and their shared heartache. The act of avoidance had run its course. It was time to face the heart she broke, the heart she still yearned for.
