“So chivalrous. I bet this is how you get all the girls,” Silver let herself be walked down the street. She had a job to get to, but maybe she’d get going once the street decided to stop spinning. Her head lolled over towards Holliday’s neck and took a deep breath. The pretty sheriff smelled good—gunpowder, sweat, and tobacco. Her favorites.
“Uh oh,” she smiled dopily. Her fluffy tail began to wag.
“What?” Holliday’s eyes snapped up, looking for danger. Her free hand was already on her pistol.
“The beast got a whiff of you. And she liiikes it,” Silver said in a sing-song voice. “Time to let her out, ‘m afraid.”
“What? No, no no no, Silver!”
