I always thought I'd die by a demon's hand.
He pressed his eyes shut, enduring the cold, suffocating panic. Hanahaki. He understood the choice now. He had to tear the affection from his heart, or let the flowers bloom and kill him.
But the thought of facing Shinobu Kocho with the bald, painful fact that she did not share this dangerous love was a deeper, more immediate agony than the poison in his chest.
