“That’s nice. Almost worth the embarrassment of telling you I tied a whole-ass tie for a quick hookup,” Shane said, opening his eyes.
“Ah,” Ilya said, seeming to remember something, and opened a mischievous smile. “But I bet that was not the most embarrassed one of us felt that night.”
“I highly doubt that.”
“I bet I win,” Ilya sang a little.
“This is not a competition,” Shane said. “Or if it is, it’s the weirdest one we’ve ever had.”Or: Five times Shane and Ilya share embarrassing early-relationship lore because the other needs to hear it, plus one time they inadvertently share it with the internet.
