“I named him Garret. My first babe.” Alerie confesses softly, squeezing the girl's hand “I don't know if it would be a boy, but I felt in my heart it would. That was the name I called him in my heart, the name I will never get to call him in life.”
“Daella.” Aemma replies just as softly, followed by silent tears
“A beautiful name.” Alerie says, smiling kindly
“My mother's name.” And then Aemma buries her face into the pillow, her next words almost swallowed by sobs “I couldn't meet either of them.”
Alerie cannot resist it anymore, she pulls the young girl towards her until Aemma is basically on her lap, whispering sweet comforts in her silver hair as the girl clings to her and cries her little heart out.
She is just a girl, Alerie thinks as her heart breaks, just a motherless girl, how can she be someone's wife? How can she already be a childless mother?

Summary
Prince Aemond Targaryen is an odd child.
That is something whispered by the whole realm, a fact that even the people who never laid eyes on the child are aware of.
He wasn’t always like that, some of the older lords will insist, the boy was a serious child from birth, but you could still see the light and the innocence of youth shining in his face, but he changed, as if one day he woke up and another person was living in his body, the prince has old eyes, it’s the agreement of those who have seen him, old and haunted eyes not befitting of a child so young.
No one, however, is more troubled and more worried about the oddness of the young prince Aemond Targaryen as his family, since the day he changed they have been worrying themselves to the bone trying to return the light to his eyes.
Or: Aemond time travels to his childhood and decides to say “fuck you” to both Greens and Blacks. Unfortunately for him, his attempts at not getting involved with either side of the family gets both of them tripping over themselves trying to figure out what the fuck is wrong with him.

Summary
She has had many riders in her long life, many more who tried and failed to claim her, and there was a point where things shifted, where her riders felt more like younglings, pups for her to raise and shape than the opposite, they started to grow into her image, rather than the opposite.
Her new boy is a living proof of it. The tiny thing is only a pup even to the humans that are supposed to protect him, brave yes, and fearless with the blood of the dragonlords cursing in his veins in such a way she has not seen in a long while, but a pup nonetheless.
Her pup.
And she is not quite pleased with the people surrounding her boy. It just wouldn’t do to see them try to shape her boy as they please, uncaring of his well being, he belongs to her and she will not allow him to be hurt again.
Or: Sometimes all you need to avoid a civil war is give a murderous war criminal ancient dragon the chance to kill people and cause panic.

Summary
Destiny is a fickle thing, most men will say while shaking their heads, it is not set in stone, they will insist vehemently, it changes and changes and changes with every choice made, with every action taken, with every path not chosen.
The funny thing about destiny, however, is that people seldom realize how little it is needed to change it, how small actions can cause ripples so powerful that they can destroy or save a dynasty.
The dragons were not destined to dance, it was not an unchangeable reality, there are countless ways countless people could have chosen a different path, could, with actions they didn’t truly realize the importance of, avoid it all together, could create a destiny without bloodshed.
Or: The people, and the actions, who could have avoided the dance of the dragons.
