In an instant, before she can even finish talking, he is unclipping her seatbelt, dragging her face back to his again. He hauls her into his lap, squeezing the sore muscles in her thighs, pushing his tongue back into her mouth. Mel feels dizzy; her stomach swoops in a terrifying sort of way, like when she got on the highest springboard at the community pool for the first time when she was twelve years old, working up the nerve to launch herself into the air.
