"MARIMO!" Sanji shrieked, his voice hitting an octave Zoro didn't know a human male could achieve. "I'm not here! You see nothing!" Sanji yelled, frantically shoving loose sheets of paper under a massive encyclopedia of food. "Go back to sleep, you mossy parasite! Drop dead! Blind yourself!"
"What the hell are you doing?!" Zoro yelled back, finally snapping out of his trance.
"Nothing! Cleaning! I'm cleaning the table with paper!"
"You're hiding papers under a book about seaweed, curly!"
"It's a delicate filing system!"One particularly crisp, ink-stained page drifted lazily through the candlelight, flipping over in the air before landing smack-dab on the countertop right in front of Zoro’s chest. Zoro looked down.
Printed in large, bold, beautifully typed letters at the top of the page was a title:

“Cook,” Zoro said, in a voice filled with what could only be described as childish glee, “what does cilantro taste like to you?”
Sanji attempted to scoff, but his discomfort over how utterly thrilled Zoro looked right now made it come out more like a pouty huff. “What the fuck do you think, mosshead?” he asked. “It’s cilantro. It tastes like soap. Or can you not tell that because the algae in your brain has spread to your taste buds?”
In which Sanji is mildly devastated to learn he can’t properly taste cilantro, and Zoro proves surprisingly helpful in the kitchen.

Summary
The mermaid swims up to the glass, climbing in the current until he reaches the third tier of the viewing platforms- right where Zoro is standing. Their faces align on opposite sides of the glass and Zoro feels his breath catch.
He's smiling. A charming twist of his lips as vibrant blue eyes gleam in the light of the tank. His hair halos his features, his bangs floating away and showing off an unusual set of curled eyebrows. His ears are pointed and webbed, and there's a smattering of iridescent scales across his cheeks that sparkle like freckled gemstones, accentuating the narrow cut of his jaw.
Fuck- He’s beautiful.
And then, the mermaid opens his mouth.
“I don’t qualify as a fish."

so cute, so romantic, so funny. i loved the atmosphere whenever zoro would meditate in the aquarium. i loved the brief allusions to the canon universe, it felt magical. sanji was described so beautifully, u could tell zoro's smitten.
btw i dont remember any spoilers in this fic, or at least nothing crazy spoilery
