Summary
In 2014, more than a year after leaving the home she shared with Fox Mulder, Dana Scully has painstakingly rebuilt a life that is stable, if not happy. Working at Our Lady of Sorrows Children's Hospital, she buries herself in medicine, trying to outrun the heartbreak of a love she never stopped carrying. She left Mulder believing that her absence might force him to confront the depression that had consumed him and their relationship. Instead, he let her go. They have not seen each other in over a year, spoken in nine months, and his last email was painfully brief.

Summary
For five years, Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have navigated the unexplainable side by side: monsters, conspiracies, and the kind of loyalty that defies reason. They’ve survived abductions, conspiracies, and losses. But they have lived in the spaces between it all: partners, friends, something more, and never quite enough.
What they’ve never survived… is distance.
When Dana Scully is reassigned across the country, Fox Mulder tells himself eight months is nothing. But in her absence, he discovers just how much of his world begins and ends with her.
By the time she returns, Mulder is finally ready to say the words he’s buried for years.
He’s just not prepared for what she brings back with her.
With a deadline looming and the past rising to the surface, Mulder must decide whether to stay silent or risk everything on a truth that may already be too late. -

Summary
Three months.
Three months of walking past Mulder’s desk and refusing to look at the empty chair. Three months of pretending that the silence in the basement office didn’t hum louder than the fluorescent lights.
When Walter Skinner had called her into his office and told her Mulder had been reassigned, off the books, classified even from her, she’d stood perfectly still. Hands folded. Chin lifted.
“For his safety,” Skinner had said.
“For how long?” she’d asked.
“I don’t know.”
And that had been that. -
