Eddie didn’t say anything, just nodded and took his place in one of the desks towards the back. So far, he appeared to be the only one there. But, of course, Eddie wasn’t that lucky.
Putting his head down for a few moments, he only looked up when he heard the soft squeak of the desk beside him.
For a moment, Eddie debated if he even wanted to bother to look. Surely, it was a mistake for someone to sit beside him, and he was expecting a taunt or insult to be thrown his way.
What Eddie didn’t expect, was to see Steve fucking Harrington being the one to sit next to him in detention.

Summary

Summary
It's incredibly rare, but there is the possibility that the perfect person is out there. The tell? Unmatching eyes. It's not always accurate, some people are just born with heterochromia and that's that. But it's been known to happen—that every once in a blue moon a pair comes together and there is nothing that can stop them from falling.
Eddie, growing up with these stories, has always hoped he would one day meet his prince in shining armor. That he would ride off into the sunset, just like the princesses in the story. But life had so many more plans for him. Between his neglectful and abusive parents, foster care which led him to his first real home with his uncle, and transitioning, the appeal of the story has wavered greatly. Eddie rarely thinks about it anymore. Until his eighteenth birthday when he wakes up looking different from how he always had. His doe eyes were still wide, still deep set with heavy bags underneath. But one eye, his left eye, had lightened into a bright hazel color.

Summary
"You know if you wanted to," Steve pauses, seems to glance Eddie over, then adds, "I could like, help you out too."
Eddie gets this weird feeling he knows exactly what Steve is talking about. Exactly where this is going.
Still, he asks, "Help me with what, Steve?"
It's actually more of a whisper than anything. Eddie is surprised Steve hears him, but he must because he swallows tightly, seems to really consider his next words.
And Eddie is certain he's dreaming, he can't think of any other logical reason why Steve is looking at him like that. Why it feels like there’s no air in the room, and something new burning between them.
