There is a whisper that haunts Logan Howlett.
He is used to this. The dead like to play with his hair and disguise it as the wind, croon into his ear when the whiskey isnt poured fast enough, hiding their murmurs beneath the creaks of floorboards and the shuffle of unsteady feet. The caresses and the playful lilts disguse hateful words, and they grow stronger and stronger, louder and louder, until they are a hateful gale of 'why did you leave us', 'why didnt you save us', 'you have always been too little, too late'--
Then he drinks, beer or whiskey or vodka or hand sanitizer, and it gets quiet again and he can think in the twilight between drunk and sober. He's not as good as he once was, but he's functioning, and he never was actually "good" to start with, so he takes what he can get. Deserves it.
