He chuckled a little. ‘Did I hear that correctly? You brought home a cat after getting drunk with Santos?’ His eyebrows hit his hairline. Most people would have been shocked at the getting drunk part. Somehow Mel understood that he was on the right track.
Mel fiddled with her glasses. ‘I have no idea where the cat appeared from.’
----
July 5th Mel wakes up to a cat in her home. Has she actually committed a crime?

Summary
“It’s kinda stupid, but Abby always liked the clean shaved look,” he explains, “and we’ve been separated for months now and I just wanted to try No Shave November for the first time.”
“Well it looks good on you,” she says before she can stop herself.
“Does it?” he says, brightening considerably. “Abby always hated it—made me shave it off immediately.”
“I think it’s nice,” she remarks, eyes roving over his face. She’s not sure what about it is so enticing, but there’s just something about Frank’s square jaw, his chin dimple, his dark brows, even his bright blue eyes, that stand out more with the addition of the coarse hair along his jawline, around his mouth.
She wonders what it feels like.
Or, Mel shows up to work with a ponytail, and Frank shows up to work with stubble and both of them lose their damn minds over it :)

He’s convinced she could never want him back and too afraid to risk losing her to ask. But one hazy night changes everything, leaving Frank with exactly what he’s always wanted…and the fear he’s ruined it forever.

Summary
Mel King was a creature of habit.
There was a specific sort of choreography to her life beyond the chaos of the Emergency Department. A carefully controlled routine, a color-coded calendar, a rigid set of rituals that kept her grounded enough to keep showing up day after day, to keep on doing the work that was required of her to save lives.
Everything was going fine for Mel. Her personal life was predictable, unexciting, and perfectly fulfilling, thank you very much.
Enter Frank Langdon, agent of chaos.

Summary
Mel can't come. Frank is a neuroscientist.
It was only supposed to be a favor between friends—just a little bit of data collection, strictly off the record. Strictly scientific. Just some data. Just a favor. Just the two of them in a lab after hours.

Summary
The last thing Langdon was expecting the next morning after they woke up and made breakfast together was for Mel to put down her fork and say, “I think you should fuck me while I’m sleeping.”
Langdon choked, having just taken a sip of water. Mel looked at him in concern but he put his hand up, waving her off that he was fine. After a little bit when he was good he cleared his throat. “I’m sorry, what?”
“You should fuck me while I’m sleeping,” Mel repeated, nudging her glasses up her nose.
