Summary
Aventurine is bathed in the spotlight of strangers’ gazes, and Ratio has been watching him all evening – Gambler hasn’t met his gaze even once. They had a falling out on the mission – foolishly and harshly, that didn’t escalate into a heated argument, but ended in an icy silence.
Doctor Ratio's sure he was noticed. They always did it this way: Aventurine would entertain the guests for a while, and then, if things went well, he and Veritas would spend the rest of the evening together.
Ratio thinks with nausea that today everything will be different, sipping white wine from his glass and trying to drown his guilt in it.
OR
Aventurine and Dr. Ratio had a fight during a mission and Veritas wants to fix it.

Summary
Xiao is an imperfect weapon. A spear that cracks right in the heat of battle. He fails once again and will be burned in the furnace of someone else’s anger, wrought by pain into something more perfect. He should be used to it by now, but Xiao cannot. His hands tremble, and the spear wobbles in his fingers.
The lives of the people Xiao was supposed to protect were cut short because he was too weak to save them. His wounds ache. Blood flows ceaselessly onto the grass, but Xiao feels too numb to notice.
The air is heavy with swirling ash, and every breath cuts into his lungs like a dagger thrust into his chest. Death seeps into his skin, penetrating his body with each rapid breath. Xiao leans on his blood-stained spear, because otherwise he would collapse onto the scorched grass, and this place would become his grave.
It’s selfish and wrong, but he fears Morax’s well-deserved wrath. So he stands here, the wind caressing his wounded body, a moment of calm before the inevitable. But Xiao is weak, so weak – even though a weapon has no right to be weak.

Summary
“You'll burn to ashes someday,” Anaxa warns quietly. Khaslana hears this for the two hundred and fifty-ninth time, but says nothing. After all, the savior is destined to blaze like a new sun, to become the dawn itself, to burn with fire the cold masses of numbers in the perfect equation of destruction.
Khaslana responds to Anaxa with a forced smile.
It's nothing serious. I'm fine.
Anaxa purses his lips, his red iris gleams with distrust. The scarlet meets the emptiness in Phainon's icy eyes.
“You've never been good at lying, so you just keep quiet?”
“As always, an open book,” Khaslana says, tilting his head wearily to one side. Love and hate intertwine like two snakes in his veins, causing his body to combust. But at the same time, he is like a doll forgotten in the far corner of a closet: the seams are rotting and coming apart, the fabric is molding, and the milestones of time are mercilessly chewing away at his flesh.

Summary
"Does it hurt?" The gambler turns his head and looks at his hands, almost surprised, only now noticing that he's torn the skin bloody overnight.
"I don't know," the dissociation is too strong. All he feels is the sensation of his own body rotting - an apple left out in the sun, whose shiny red peel has decayed and turned into something disgusting.
Veritas sighs.
Aventurine stares into his eyes, trying to find disgust, hatred, squeamishness behind the calm and even tone.
Ratio meets his gaze, and Aventurine begins to stare at the ceiling again. He feels like crying from the agonizing shame he seemed to have long ago ceased to feel. Gambler was ready for Veritas to yell at him, tell him how much Aventurine is repugnant and leave.
But he is still here.

"Was it necessary to bring two suitcases on a three-day trip, peacock?" Veritas asks, dragging his and the gambler's suitcases behind him.
Aventurine turns over shoulder. His pink-blue eyes gleam with mockery through the colored glasses.
"Don't be a buzzkill, doctor Ratio," He chuckles.
"You're insufferable, you know?" He sighes heavily, a slight chuckle flashing across his lips, showing that Veritas isn't serious.
"You too. I'm not sure I can survive three days in the same room with you," He teases. They walk up to the front desk, confirm the reservation and pick up the room key.
