Summary
Mu Qing stumbles through the dark cavern, holding onto the wall to guide him. His legs feel strange to stand on, and mephitic vapors swirl around him, burning his nostrils and making his head feel foggy. This isn’t where he exited the water, but it’s his best chance at getting back. He went into heat too early and was completely unprepared. He hadn’t secluded himself or prepared his nest yet, as he was caught in the middle of scavenging. He ended up washing up on a beach as the warmth flooded his skin and his tail dispersed.
His heats have never been regular, but he should’ve known the spring pheromones from the alphas would trigger his system to go haywire. At least no one saw him as he limped away from the beach naked and searched frantically for a cave to hide in. He found the perfect place and promptly collapsed near the entrance, able to smell the saltwater from within but unable to make himself stand again. He had to wait his heat out alone while he anticipated the return of his tail when the overwhelming warmth finally receded.
