    “My mother’s right,” Debbie sighed, sitting up in her chair. The heat from her skin was gone with the removal of Lou’s hand, but she missed it. It felt cold and rigid in the air as she breathed in her own fears and reality. “Ugh, god. Even just saying that out loud. I hate when she’s right. I mean, I don’t even know if I see myself married, but I figured at least someone one day would want to give me the option. You know? Would just…want me.”

    Lou’s head looked up slowly, her eyes boring into Debbie’s own and Debbie shivered once more, but it wasn’t the air. Her eyes darted around as her teeth bit at her lip nervously, wondering what words she was waiting for Lou to offer in response.

    And all too soon but not soon enough, Lou was straightening her tie and leaning back as if she owned not only the restaurant, but the world as she looked up at the sky and let out a simple, “I want you.”

    Lou and Tammy have an affair while Debbie is in prison. Kinda ignoring canon (specifically Tammy’s kids and, like, fidelity) for the sake of the story. Chapter 1 is expositional angst and fluff, Chapter 2 is indulgent smut. *kisses*
