"There's no need to negotiate for your safety, Doctor Grace," Stratt says carefully. "I can assure you, after saving the world, you will be looked after."
"Um, no," he says, shaking his head. "I'm not negotiating for my safety." He steps aside. “I’m negotiating for theirs.”
They step into the light of the open doorway; Simon, squinting hard against the vivid sun with his hand raised to shield his eyes and Rocky, who chirps a casual "Hello, humans!" with a wave.
There’s a gasp; someone takes a step backward; one of the military personnel raises their rifle slightly before Stratt makes a sharp gesture for them to stand down.
Grace doesn’t have eyes for them - he only looks at Stratt.
And he decides, then and there, to replace the image of Stratt’s face sending him to his death, full of remorse and sadness, with the one in front of him: utter, complete disbelief.
Grace thinks he'll treasure it forever.or: rocky and grace (+simon) go to earth instead of erid

ITS GETTING CONTINUED YAYYYYYYY (ch7)
ITS SCRUMPTIOUS.
Rob fighting drill guys with Mal and sonar, almost fucking dies, FLAMBAE COMES TK THE RESCUE!!! They go drinking woohoo, talk abt Soraya and Elementals (she’s electric whoa), and then Bae walks Rob home and ends up telling him his name 🤭🤭🤭
Robert’s gotta pitch the suit he’s making Chad and his sister. Chad also discloses some of what he and his sister went through in Afghanistan. Very cutie overall, I love the convos. ALSO CHADS SISTER RECOGNIZED ROB AS MECHAMAN RIGHT AWAY IT WAS KINDA SCARYLETS FREAKING GO SORAYA GOT THE SUIT!! literally so epic awesome sauce, Robert tells chase about his crush on Chad, and they talk about how Robbie might have felt about Robert being bi. Overall 11/10, I’m so excited to read more 👻
I freaking love them so much, they went to the bar with the team and Chad told them about what has been happening. Then robert had to gather suit data for Royd so he went to chads apartment and gathered the data, and ended up having dinner with them. Also some talk about Robert’s old scars, bc he got burned by the pasta sauce when Soraya was walking on her hands in the r kitchen and bumped into Robert who bumped into Chad domino style and got slimed (boiling tomato sauced). Chad yelled at Soraya and then rob and Chad had their chat but after their chat was so flipping awesome bc Chad pulled Soraya aside and said I’m sorry for yelling at you while also explaining why he was angry, but making her explain while asking questions if that makes sense omg help idk
Now it’s the day of his dad’s death, it’s been 16 years (how old Rob was when his dad died). So Rob has been feeling funky, but has also been repressing his feelings. The zteam went to the bar, Rob got fucked up and blacked out but Chad and prism took him home. There’s gotta be come stuff that Rob forgot about Chad (smth about missing a hand and a promise?). The next day Chad text him to make sure he’s alive but Rob didn’t respond until sunset (he decided to work through his funk and hangover on a Saturday). They ended up calling and watching the sunset together on diff roofs.
Robert and Estelle talk abt robs dad and mom. Dad was a great friend, bad parent. Mom left but was also good friend. Robert can’t sleep, throws himself into the mech nightly, Chad gets worried and goes to talk to him but Rob was BARBED RIP. Hospital trip, opening up, etc.. gagged this chap was so good I loved the dialogue and I always love hurt comfort it’s like my #1 favorite ever
