“Because I was afraid!”
The air seemed to freeze at the revelation. Your hands shook terribly and you took heaving breaths.
“I was afraid that I’d hurt you, that I’d lose control, that I’d kill you! I was afraid that you’d–” you cut yourself off mid sentence, promptly closing your mouth almost as if you were about to say too much.
But it didn’t take much to figure out what you were about to say.
“You were afraid I’d kill you…”
